It wasn't supposed to turn out like this, it was just a game or rather a test, to see if these stories where remotely real but I guess I underestimated what I was playing with, what we where playing with.

It was no secret how lately I've been fascinated with the occult, witches, Wicca, spells and protection candles, to the point where I brought myself a Ouija board but only for decoration purposes, nothing more. A Friday 13, me and my best friend Stephanie decided to have one of our horror nights, a night where we binge watch horror flicks till we pass out.

"Aren't you curious to see if that really works?" Stephanie said "huh what... what are you talking about?" I asked her, her statement came out of the blue to me "The Ouija board, I mean you have one so... aren't you curious about them?" I laughed before I shook my head "nah, that's fake and besides my board Is decorative, it will definitely not work" Stephanie looked at the board, i knew that smirk on her face, she immediately was on her feet, the board in her hands "Come on let's try it..." "Steph I'm not doing that" I interrupted her but she seem persistent, as always. "Come on Jenny... what are you afraid of? If it's fake then nothing will happen right? So come on let's do it!" I hated it, but Stephanie had a way of convincing me to do stuff so easily.

It took us a few minutes but the room was finally candle lit, all white, with the board on the center table of the living room. I took a deep breath before I looked at an overly excited Stephanie "I hate you" I said but Stephanie laughed it off "Liar, you adore me! Now come on let's do this!" She said "remember once we're done we HAVE to say goodbye ok?" I instructed which gain me rolled eyes "yeah yeah I know" Stephanie seem so anxious about this, excited but anxious.

Our fingers finally touched the disc, not forcefully just lingering almost, I took a deep breath, mostly to think what I was gonna say. "Is there anyone besides us here tonight?" I asked out loud, but nothing happened, I immediately thought this wasn't working but because Steph was so excited I gave it a second chance "Alright... if there's someone with us here, talk to us, we want to see if... maybe this is real" there was heavy doubt in my voice, but I didn't back down, i remain firmly. But nothing happened, I could see the disappointment in Stephanie's face already "Well... nothing happened so good..." before I could finish my sentence the disc moved, Stephanie and I gasped before we looked at each other. The disc now over the word "Yes". "You didn't move it did you?" Stephanie asked "No..." I responded "Who are you?" And as in cue the board moved again, D and then A, R followed by a K, N, E and double S.

"Darkness?" Stephanie asked with a squeaked panicked voice "Darkness... what happened to you... why are you here?" I asked, I wasn't sure what to ask to be honest, I even hesitated to say my words and whatever was on the other side noticed. The disc was pulled towards the "No" of the board before it began to spell something else, something that was definitely not what we where expecting.

We both looked at each other, unnerved, scared of our own lives "Close it" Stephanie whispered, her eyes wide with fear, before I could close the line the board flew away from our hands, smashing itself into the nearest wall and breaking in half. Strong winds surrounded us, all the candles now out, the lights flickering, my tv turning itself on to show only static, it was definitely the most scary scenario we have ever witnessed, scary and confusing. In a few minutes everything stopped, there was a mess in my apartment but at least we where ok and whatever happened was over, or so we thought. "Wanna sleep at my apartment tonight?" Stephanie asked "Yeah that... that sounds like a great idea actually...". I took my things, with no hesitation I left my apartment, thinking everything would be fine tomorrow, having no idea how wrong I was.
