Wendy's POV

We get our tests back this morning, and I actually am hoping that Romeo gets more than 60% on his test. I peeked and so far what I had seen he had gotten correct, which made me even happier. A test on a Monday is bad enough but to make it better you get a chance to have a kiss from someone who you like. Fingers crossed! Ms Strauss is handing out our papers and I'm absolutely hyped for my results: I've always been good at Japanese. I can't wait! Finally she reaches the back of the classroom, and the lunch bell rings. Students file out the classroom leaving me and Romeo alone.

"So what did you get on your test?" I ask him, staring at the floor anxiously.

"I got a 69%!" He beams, jumping up and down in his spot.

"Amazing! Well done!"

"So do I get my reward?" He approaches me, and nervously I back into the window, his face an inch from mine.

"I guess you can have it." I whisper, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Thank you Wendy." He pushes his lips on mine softly, and briefly, his hands on my waist.

"Romeo." I whisper.

"OMG!" I look to the source of the voice behind Romeo.

"MEREDY!" I squeal, trying to hide behind Romeo.

"Oh no." He sighed.

"Wendy, you are coming with me." Meredy drags me away, my hair covering my flushed face.

"I'll see you later." I hear Romeo say faintly.

Eventually Meredy drags me inside the library, and shoved me against a bookshelf. She looks happy and sad all at once.

"Tell me what happened in there isn't true."

"Meredy, what do you mean?"

"Why do you send mixed signals?" Tears fall down her pale face.

"I haven't sent mixed signals." I state, shaking off her hands.

"I told you I loved you. Why don't you love me back?"

"No offence, but I don't like girls. I liked you as a friend."

"Never speak to me again Wendy!" She snapped.

"Meredy." I sigh, trying to follow her.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" She yells, getting instantly hushed by the librarian.

"I'm sorry Meredy." I frown, leaving after her, desperate to find Romeo.

He's still in the classroom picking at some food in his lunchbox, shaped like a small cat. He looks a mixture of disappointed and angry at the same time.

"Are you okay?" I approach him, sitting on the edge of the desk.

"Why wouldn't I be?" He growled.

"I'm sorry about Meredy. I didn't want to leave."

"You didn't?" He looked surprised.

"I wanted to stay, and say I enjoyed that reward."

"I enjoyed it too." He smiled making me blush.

"Do you want to go on another date with me? There's a cafe in town."

"I'd love that. How about Wednesday, at 6. I can pick you up, and we can walk there."

"I'd have to sneak out because of Natsu, but that Flame Brain won't notice me gone."

"Perfect." He grins, leaning up and kissing my cheek. "Can't wait."

Romeo's POV

Another date with Wendy and I'm already buzzing so much. I need to tell Vijeeter about everything like now. I search the school as fast as I can but the bell rings and I dash back to my classroom, not wanting to face the She-Demon: Ms Strauss earned that name for yelling at Evergreen who was late just a couple of seconds after the final bell, and I don't want my ears being deafened today.

"Just in time." Vijeeter whispers as I pass his desk, just as the final bell rings.

"Good afternoon class, today we'll be working in the hall, studying a classic play called Romeo and Juliet. You'll work in pairs and prepare a performance from a particular scene of your choice for the rest of the class to watch. But you have to give it a modern twist to whatever scene you decide to perform."

"Wendy." I look at her while we carry our bags to the hall. "Want to work with me?"

"Why not? Could be fun, do you know anything about the play?"

"No."

"It's a tragedy where two star-crossed lovers destined to be together are pulled apart by their rival families causing the lovers to take their lives as a result."

"That's heartbreaking." I gasp.

"We could do the death scene."

"What happens?"

"Juliet pretends to take her life, and a message was supposed to reach Romeo but never did. So he takes poison just as she wakes up, and then she actually takes her life, dying with her soulmate."

"How can we make that modernized?"

"The two characters could be more exaggerated for the love they have for each. When Juliet wakes up she could dance around on the spot singing to herself but then spots Romeo, and screams."

"Romeo could do the same when he sees Juliet fake dead."

"That could work." She puts her bag down on the wooden floor, I copy her.

"Let's get practicing then. Don't want the She-Devil on us, after all."

"DID HEAR THE NAME SHE-DEVIL?" The very woman we were talking about, Ms Strauss, yells from across the hall, stopping helping Kinanna and Vijeeter.

"NO MS STRAUSS!" We yell back in unison.

"DID I SAY YOU COULD YELL IN HERE?"

"No Ms Strauss!" We say, trying not to yell, but trying to make her hear what we said.

"GOOD!" She gave us a thumbs up before returning to the pair she was helping before. And we laughed.
