       "A little to the left"

"Babe c'mon! we've been at this for a full hour now!"

"you're the one who insists that it be absolutely perfect. i'm doing this for your sanity, honey."

"my sanity or my back? gee, its so hard to choose!"

"Sarcasim will get you know where"

It's a week before christmas in the McClain residence, and its time to decorate! It was Lance's idea to go all out this year...only he's the only one who can. With keith in his sixth month of pregnancy, theres not much that he can do. So right now Lance was being a drama queen and Keith was comfortably directing him on where to place the star from the comfort of the couch.
"Right there! put it right there Lance, It's perfect!" Keith shouted demanding. Lance dropped the star on the prickly mess of the tree, sighing hard. Finally, they were done with the hardest part. Lance climbed down the ladder and onto the carpet, plopping down on the couch next to Keith. In no time at all, he was enveloped in warm arms and kissed tenderly on the cheek.

"It looks beautiful Lance. even if there's nothing but a star"

Lance shot up, looking up at the bare tree, the face of failure looking right back at him. A part of him wanted to cry a  bloody mary.
"Oh my Jesus, Keith I need your help" Lance begged, turning over and crawling onto his husbands lap. He kissed his hands repeatedly, giving him huge puppy dog eyes, pleading for his help. "I never going to get this done!" Keith laughed, ruffling up Lance's not-so kept hair. Honestly this one of the many reasons why he loved him.
"Sure Lance, I help you" Keith replied, smiling down at the pleading man. "I doubt that i'll be any good though". The tan man looked up, gratitude promininent in his eyes. He smiled, shooting up like firework and toppling Keith backwards onto the couch cushion. The two laughed, connecting their lips for a short, sweet kiss. " Did I ever tell you that you're  a life saver?" Lance asked in his husky male voice. His little Korean smirked back playfully. "Yes actually, 247 times to be exact"
Lance snorted, shaking his head in disbelief. "come one, I probably squishing the babies" He said, pushing himself up on his elbows. They both sat up, eyeing the tree. It bare prickliness taunting them from the corner of their small apartment.
"Okay, let's do this" Lance said, somewhat confidently. He stood up from their comfortable position, pulling up his pregnant husband as well.
Keith stretched, not finding as much satisfaction as he would of like with his back making the popping noises. He smiled softly as Lance slipped a hand onto his bulging middle, rubbing it softly. The two kiss once again, pulling back with a popping noise. The Christmas season was finally starting to settle in, and nothing spelled holidays like some fluffiness with your loved one.
"Okay so, the tree" Keith said, interrupting the mood. Lance looked away blushing, smiling under his breath. His husband was still shy, and that was very cute. The two stalked towards the prickly beast, eyeing it wearingly. One of the main reasons why they don't decorated during the holiday  was because of the many hours spent decorating, only to tear everything down once the season had passed in maybe seven days. They weren't even planning to decorate at all, but Lance insisted that they at least put up the tree, if nothing else.
"Here. I'll pull out some of the ornaments and you can put it on the tree. That way you wont be bending down too much." Lance said, kneeling down next to the bin full of the colorful sphere shaped objects. The said pregnant male nodded, looking back at the tan Hispanic.
Lance dipped down in the bin, rustling around the jingly decoration. He stopped suddenly, feeling a strange texture beneath his delicate fingertips.
He reached down and pulled out an ornament, a large sphere, colored with a deep blue and decorated with a few  golden bows. FLORIDA was printed on the front in all-caps.
"Hey do you remember this?" Lance asked energetically, holding it up for Keith to see."That time when we went down to Florida for that short vacation? Ahhh man! That was fun!" Lance laughed, his adorable dimples beaming with happiness.
Keith took it from him to inspect, his eyes lighting up like the fireflies when he suddenly remembered the vacation. They had flown down to the Sunshine State to escape the bitter cold front sweeping the North. Lance had insisted that they stay at a beach hotel in Fort Lauderdale. It was  meant to be a short excursion, one to relax and soothe the stressed couple. But instead it turned into an adventure, one that included a tour, beach days, and expensive shopping.
"Let's put it near the top" Keith said quietly to himself, smiling softly at his eccentric husband continued rummaging through the decoration bin.
Just as Keith was about to place the ornament on a pine needle near the star, he froze. A wave of nausea swirled in his stomach and sloshed in his head. He grew dizzy, the tree disappearing and reappearing in his eyesight. He tried to slow his erratic breathing, his own lungs betraying him. He almost didn't hear Lance asking him if he was alright. The ceiling was getting further and further away and whatever gravity was drunk on, it was helping his situation. Everything became fuzzy and Lance's sweet and comforting voice became distant. The last thing he remembered was calling out to Lance before he began to tilt backwards, his eyes stinging with tears and his lips letting out any air it was holding in.
