"I just can't thank you enough for volunteering we have our hands full this has been one hectic week, " The kind-eyed women in front of me said among one of her few spare moments.

Sharing the sentiment, I replaced my default tell me about it with an easily more pleasant reply.

"Not a problem miss Hanna it's always a pleasure to work with the tykes ."

"Little buggers get bigger and more rambunctious every time you look away." Her voice betrayed her affection even as she shook her head wildly.

" You know just the other day, you won't be able to guess what I found Caleb doing!-" She offered me a tight-lipped smile and glanced to where a little blond haired girl twirled about.

The toddler would have shared my likeness, but for the dyed hair.

"Then again you probably would, You're a saint Jess, A right Saint " And just like that any sense of deeper conversation fell away. Mrs. Hannah never questioned and for that, I would always be grateful.

I chuckled glad to move on to lighter topics.

"I'm not so sure about that Ma'am but anything I can do "

I trailed off leaving much unsaid.

Efficiently shelving some blankets I grabbed the clipboard.

The Clipboard (caps required) is the scripture of this place it held the schedule and name of every child here on it.

Carefully I handed it back over to Mama Han.

Miss Hanna, or Mama Han as she was usually called was a good woman. Even if she taste in attire boarded on the paisley and eccentric. She bore a huge load on an ever shrinking plate, she never truly complained only smiled and asked for seconds. Mama Han possessed a large heart and a fierce belief in the innate goodness of people equally fierce disposition when roused.

She reminded me strangely enough of our oddball productions manager at the school.

Which brought me to thinking about the happenings a few days prior.

"Speaking of chaos If I don't leave soon I'm going to be late for rehearsal! "

With a few more well wishes and waves from the kiddos, I was off. ----

Cr@p Gonna is late. I was so gonna be late.

Wait hang on here I acutely cared about there sh$tty little play?

This was just supposed to be some extra credit b.s.

Looks good on my applications and all that jazz.

I'm Jess gosh darn Sullivan I get my kicks sending people to the ER. Not singing about a spoonful of sugar

No way today! I took a sharp left on the broad street.

Looks like playing hooky and a trip to the plaza for some therapy street style was in order.

But nonetheless no matter how hard I tried to shake it, the feeling.

That feeling ...Of acceptance. like I had finally found the place where I belonged. Right at center stage with everyone clapping.

Even Rav with her face looking like she'd taken to big a bite out of an overly sour lemon grudgingly admitting I'd done "Not too bad for a street ruffian " couldn't dampen my mood.

The most Surprising of all? When Mrs. Bambrook said, " I couldn't have done it myself ". The whole while cast members nearly splitting me in half with eager pats on the back.

The crew, the cast what would they do without me and Ravanna I'd just be proving her that she'd been right about me all along if I quit now.

Hold the metaphorical fireworks folks show's not over yet! Cause I am turning this car around.

Hang in there Cindy, before the clock struck twelve it'd be princess charming to the rescue, ready or not Ravanna here I come glass slipper in hand!
