2016: Ah, Que Hora Es a work of comedic genius

"You know what you problem is !"

I pulled down a box. Letting it oh so gently  slam unto the floor with a crash. Jess nearly jumped out of her skin and scowled suppressing a wince.

I let the little bit of satisfaction warm me. Before aptly shooting  back a deft  "Besides you ?"

Jess grinned a startling copy of the cheshire cat. She gleefully sported a harlequin mask. One that I recognized with a groan from a 4 year ago production of Señorita Cada Dia.

A little nonsense Spanish play with lines like "Que Hora Es !?" (What time is it ) at impromptu moments.

The author had obviously been high on crack purchased in fifth hall girls bathroom.Possibly half awake studying for their "Unidad Final Examen en clase de espanol ."

They must of failed either that or passed with a sterling F++.

Because anyone who thought action meant acto deserved to fail.

"Rav" I scowled catching the tail end of the conversation

"With me?"

She'd apparently been talking this whole time. Glorious. I hadn't realized it.

"Yes ..wait what ?"

She seemed to have a seizure. Next thing I know, she was shaking uncontrollably all over. I restrained myself from coming to her aid. 

Barely. 

Hey! This way it wouldn't be my fault if she croaked. What do you mean a few shelves and boxes fell on her? How tragic!  I'm completely innocent officer.

She must have been alright. Because  to my great disappointment her eyes didn't roll back into her head, nor was she twitching spasticity. Well more than usual.

Jess was chuckling a full body honest to judge Judy  shaking chortle.

Humph glad I could amuse.

"I asked if you found me sexy and, if you were with me! "

The added weight on with didn't leave it to the imagination what she had meant .

I blamed the nut who'd miss labeled everything rather heatedly under my breath.

Yesterday, now this ! There really was no hope for me in saving face?

She cocked a brow  neat trick wonder how ? I could never get one to come up without the other. I judged her look. It was unreadable .

Yes, you don't have a chance now leave me alone. Go on and  get back to

digging for treasure in this island .

"Why that my dulcet darling sounds like a dare "

"The cliff is free to jump Romeo ".

That's right your funeral so-

Did Jess not only just catch my reference but, answer back perfectly word for word directly from Shakespeare? Granted that play was well know it is "The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet" after all. Still not your average reading material. Even if we read it in freshmen year. I was starting to believe the niggling thought at the corner of my mind. There had to be more to Jessie then first appeared.

Her proposal if you could call it that, might actually be worth consideration. I silently mused.

Had I acutely just thought that ? How disturbing shaking my head like a wet dog.

"Star crossed may be the strongest of loves. But I'd much rather you not pitch yourself of a balcony." Or procure something shiny

A pause then another tense second later

Softly so that I might of missed it if I hadn't been holding my breath in anticipation.

"My Juliet "

Somewhat mollified I snorted. So what if it was undignified. How could I not at a line like that.

"I wouldn't be such a simpering Miss and your no love sick dolt".

"Dolt?" She questioned eyes crinkling with mirth.

Then Jess had to go and say it.

"As if  there was any doubt. You're the perfect spoiled Capulet princess. Besides if anyone is  going to be  lovesick it would be you with me and not me with you."

Relay now? We'll just see about that

"Is that a challenge! I bet I can make you fall in love with me first" I impulsively declared once more losing my mouth and head filter.

It would only be later that I realized what I had said. 

By that time  it would be too late. 

Till then, however, I had a bet to win.
