Chapter One

"Avery, it's time to go, you're going to miss your flight." My mom, Elizabeth, says from my doorway.

"I know, just one more second." I stand up from my bed, taking one last look around my perfectly sculpted room. The walls covered in memories. Pictures of my sixteen years of life coated most of it. Besides the posters of my favorite bands. My first guitar, hung on another wall. Along with a lot of my popular sheet music.

A took in this moment with a deep breath. Today, my life changes forever.

"It's been longer than a second Ave. Don't worry, you'll be back in no time." My mom comes and rests her hands on my shoulders, guiding me out of my childhood room.

"I'm going to miss you so much." I turn around and wrap my hands around my mom. Her golden hair tickling my nose. I looked a lot like my mom. Small nose, blonde hair, both five foot seven. The only thing different was I had green eyes and she had blue ones.

"We're not even at the airport yet." She backs up, placing her hands on either sides of my face.

"I know." I smile at her, giving her one last hug and heading down the stairs with my suitcases in hand.

We arrived at the airport shortly after. Loads of people were saying their farewells and some were saying their hellos.

Hoping out of the passenger side, I head to the trunk of the car and roll my suitcases out. Small grunts escaped my lips as I removed the inanimate objects from the Chevy.

My mom joined me as I was taking out the last bag. A sad smile etched her face.

"I'm so proud of you honey you have no idea." A tear slips from her eye.

"I know, I just wish they were here." My eyes begin to water at the traumatic memory of my father and sister.

"Me too baby." She wraps herself around me one last time before kissing my forehead and sending me on my way.

I wiped the now flowing tears from my eyes and headed to bag check. I had around thirty minutes before they would start boarding my flight and would take me from Dallas to California.

After what felt like forever, I finally made it to the boarding zone. A few people stood around waiting for the doors to open. I saw someone that looked around my age and went to go sit by them.

"Hey, is this seat taken?" I question the boy sitting with his phone in his hand.

"Uh- no I- no it's not." The boy looked startled by my approach but nonetheless scooted over.

"I'm Avry, with no 'E'."  I introduced myself, feeling like I wouldn't see this boy after the flight, I thought I'd make a quick friend.

"Zach, with an H at the end." He smiles at me, taking his hand in mine to shake. "Why are you heading to Cali?" Zach asks, shifting in his seat.

"Music. My manager wanted me to move to LA for an opportunity to widen my fan base I guess" I shrug nonchalantly.

"Oh! Me too. I'm in a band." Zach smirks, feeling proud of himself.

"Oh really?" I laugh, shaking my head.

"Oh yes. Wanna see?" He unlocks his phone and I take note on how many games he has. He pulls up a picture from his instagram I suppose. There stood five teenage boys.

"The order from left to right is Jack, Me, Corbyn, Jonah and Daniel

"The order from left to right is Jack, Me, Corbyn, Jonah and Daniel. I'm the youngest out of them." Zach says, pointing to each of them as he said their names.

"How old are you?"

"16."

"Me too." I smile, at least I'm not the only 16 year old here.

"Flight 72 from Dallas to California, is now boarding. I repeat, Flight 72 from Dallas to California, is now boarding." A voice interrupts our conversation to inform us.

"I'd really like for you to meet them." Zach suggests as we stand up and grab our bags.

"I'd love that."
