"What is it Kit Kat?" he asked catching my hand as his thumb drew patterns on my hand.

"What are we doing?" I asked, clearly distracted by the way he drew patterns on the palm of my hand, cause truthfully speaking I was confused.

"I know you don't want this conversation but what are we right now?" I asked.

"We're April and James, who else could we be?" he winked at me.

"I'm being serious here James" I announced angrily.

"Rilly, do we have to have this conversation?" he asked innocently.

"Yes, we have to have it now or I'm leaving till you get your story straight" I said pulling my hand away from his grip and stalking off back to the party.

"Okay! Fine we'll talk" James shouted out making me stop in my tracks and spin on my heel and walk back to him.

"So what are we?" I asked.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend again?" he asked sheepishly scratching the back of his neck.

I would be lying if I said I hadn't thought of this. Somedays I thought yes. Somedays I thought maybe but not once did I think no.
But, I had my thoughts straight.

"No" I whispered back.

"Wh-What?" he asked stuttering. Of course he wasn't expecting it.

"I'm sorry James but I can't let what happened the last time happen again" I said hopelessly looking anywhere but at him.

"I did it to keep you safe, I needed to keep you away from all that was going on in the gang. But now I need you there with me too" he said pleadingly as he cupped my chin and raised it up till I was staring into his eyes.

"It's not just that, but you were right James" I whispered.

"What do you mean? What was I right about?" he asked his eyes full of confusion

"I don't trust you, and hell you can't even blame me for that!" I said looking away.

"I-I uh" he said unable to frame a sentence.

"James I can tell when you're hiding something from me, like right now there's something that's bothering you but you don't want to let it go. And how am I supposed to trust you when you can't trust me?" I asked unsure.

"The newspaper report might have not been the only reason I broke up with you" he barely whispered. I stayed silent waiting for him to continue.

"Remember Scar, the mob boss?" he asked me.

"The one who has a weird scar on his cheek? Yea I do remember him" I said creasing my eyebrows not sure where this was going.

"He called me few hours before our date, and he asked me to join him in the this dealership. He promised me that I would be the second to the under boss and all that, but I refused claiming my allegiance to Immobilità.

"If only I'd known what was coming after that Kit Kat..." he faltered, "He threatened to take you April, to hurt you. I was stubborn to believe him, so I told him that he couldn't mess with me and that he should leave me alone." he said soft enough for only me to hear.
