Not You Again

Chapter 13

I wake up the next morning at noon.

Wow, how could I have slept in so much? I feel fairly energetic so I get ready quickly and pick a cute outfit to wear when suddenly, I hear my phone vibrate. I check and it's from Naveen.

Tia, Tim's 4 lunch?

I roll my eyes but smile, it was our favourite place to go on a date.

Naveen you have a gf.

This isn't a date. It's going out for lunch as friends.

I laugh a bit but I reply

Fineee

I walk to Tim Hortons. I swear, Tim Hortons was a two minute walk which was why it was convenient. I smile as I see him at the corner.

"Hey!" I say to Naveen when I see him.

"Hi Tiana." He smiles

"Let's go but something." I say walking to the order area.

"Hello, how may I help you?" asks a lady

"I would like an Extreme Italian sandwich and an iced capp surpreme with chocolate milk." I ordered

"What about you mister?" she asks Naveen

"Frozen lemonade and a Tuscan chicken panini please." he orders

"Okay you can make your way over there to wait for your sandwich."

We walk over there and receive our food.

"I'll pay." I tell Naveen

"Only a true gentleman will pay, therefore I will." he argues

We stand there arguing for about 20 seconds

"Ahem, miss? Mister?" asks the cashier

"Oh I'm terribly sorry miss," says Naveen "I'll pay."

And Naveen pays.

"You didn't have to do that, you know?" I say

"I did." he says softly as we went to our seats.

"How do you like our new school?" I ask

"It's pretty great. Everyone's nice." he replies

"Why do you like Charlotte?" I ask

He smirks, "Looks like someone is jealous."

My face gets hot but not of embarrassment, it's anger.

"Naveen, we went over this. I don't like you, you shouldn't like me." I sigh

"I still have feelings for you. Charlotte well I like her, she's sweet funny and beautiful even though she's kind of pushy." he says

"Oh..." I say "but isn't she a jerk?"

"Of course not Tiana. Why would you say that?" he asked

"She's my ex-best friend that dumped me in high school." I sigh

"Wow why?" he asked

"I'm not pretty and popular," I say, "plus I'm African. Charlotte thinks she's too good for me."

"Charlotte's not that mean." he defends

"Not to you maybe." I admit

Out of the blue I see my mom here. Not just here by herself, but with another man, and they were kissing!

My head feels heavy but the only thing I do is run. Run fast out of there.

I feel angry tears come down. I have no idea what to do. I can't just run home and act like nothing has ever happened. Soon enough I hear Naeen's voice.

"Tiana! Wait!" he pants

"I'm sorry..I didn't mean to leave you." I sigh

"Don't worry, what happened?" he asked

"I saw my mom with another man and they kissed." I cry

"That sucks..." he replies quietly, "what are you going to do?"

"I don't know." I say sadly, "Do you mind if I stay over for a night?" 

I feel really desperate. I don't know what else to do though.

"No problem Tiana." he says, "I feel bad what happened...plus we're still friends
