Chapter 22

"I love you," I whispered to Colby.

"I love you too, forever and always. Have fun at work." Colby told me.

"Always having fun at work," I muttered. "We'll make it through, we will make it through."

"Yes we will," Colby agreed. "Drive safe baby."

"Same to you honey," I replied.

I walked to the kitchen to find something to eat since we had plenty of leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner. I thought about Colby the entire time. How could a male be my mate and my husband? I don't know, but anything's possible. Knowing he's still with me all the time, it makes me feel more safe. 

'Hey, how are you holding up sweetie' Colby mind linked me and asked me.

'Just fine,' I answered back. 'Love you, pay attention to your work.'

'Why are you home?' Colby asked.

'Planning for the day, love you,' I answered.

'Love you too,' Colby replied.

Colby was even more on my mind now. What happened to make him mind link me? I groaned wanting to know what was bothering him so much. I grabbed my truck keys, slipped on my shoes, threw on my jacket and went out the door and locked the door behind me. 

"Hello Samuel, nice to see you again," My counselor said. Colby doesn't know I go to counseling still, it's better off if he doesn't know.

"Pleasure to see you again too. I've been having a lot of worried thoughts about Colby. My mate? He's been acting weird lately. Maybe he's-

"Hold your thoughts right there. Let me answer this phone call," Dr. Manon told me. I looked around Manon's Office, noticing a new picture with him, a woman, and a girl.

"Who's that?" I asked and pointed to the picture frame after he got off the phone.

"My mate and my daughter, that's why I was gone for a certain amount of time," Dr. Manon responded.

"Congratulations," I congratulated him.

"Thank you so much, that means a lot to me," Dr. Manon replied back to my statement. "About you and Colby, has there been any fighting whatsoever?"

"No fighting, zero fighting. We haven't fought since we first started dating, because of complications," I explained to Dr. Manon.

"Oh wow, that's impressive, I'm happy you found a good man, Dr. Manon remarked. "Why are you worried about him?"

"Because he's been working a lot. He wants to get paid more. He's afraid we might lose our house," I informed him.

"If you both come in at some point, I can make a deal with you two and you will keep your house," Dr. Manon said. "What do you say to that Sam?"

"I'll talk to him tonight, thank you Dr. Manon," I told him and thanked him. 

"You're welcome, anytime Samuel. You're a good client of mine. See you tomorrow," Dr. Manon said and I left and headed for work.

My job is to teach teenagers combat skills. It's rough but it's fun at the same time. The teenagers can push me too far, but I don't send them off. They need to learn respect and how to fight properly so they don't get themselves killed.
