Chapter 22: Winter Break

A week later...

It was December, the last Thursday before winter break. "Hey, Taeyong. It's snowing outside". Hye Jin said as she pointed out to the window.

Taeyong opened the window and poked his head out. He looked up and a snowflake fell on his hair.

At that time, everyone gathered at the window, looking at the snowy school yard in amazement.

"Mark-ya, are you going to Whistler with your family?". Hye Jin greeted Mark as she took a seat beside him.

"Yeah, we have booked everything already. I can't wait to go skiing and ice skating too". Mark responded as he kept imagining himself skiing on the snowy mountain.

Every students in the school was in a holiday mood already.

Walking down the corridor, Hye Jin could hear all the activities students were planning for the upcoming holiday.

Some were planning to go skiing at resorts, some were planning to travel to exotic locations and some were planning a big family gathering.

"My whole family's going". Mark said. "We are going to have so much fun in Whistler". He then added.

"Anyway, enough about me. What are you gonna do for the holidays, noona?". He asked.

"Umm.... I haven't given much thought about it yet. I'll probably just end up staying at home, spending time with my family". Hye Jin replied.

"What should I do for the holiday?". She thought in her head as she looked at Mark.

"That's nice, noona". Mark responded. "You always suggest a vacation to your parents".

The school bell then rang!

The soccer competition was coming up in a couple of months and the team was having a last training session in the gym before winter break that day.

The boys soccer team had agreed to practice with the girls soccer team.

Hye Jin darted across the snowy covered courtyard in her fleeced jacket and arrived at the gym.

"Hi, Yuta. Hey, guys". She greeted them as she shivered. "It's so cold outside". She continued.

"I know, it's freezing". Yuta agreed on that one.

"I called my mom, she will pick me up from school when the training is done. I can give you a lift if you want, Hye Jin-ssi". He offered.

"Thanks, that will be nice". Hye Jin answered.

The team practiced every technique that they need to use in the competition.

Every team member could still taste the bitterness of last year's defeat.

As team captain, the defeat annoyed Hye Jin more than anybody else. "We have to win it this year!". Her inner voice said.

The team wanted to win it this year, and they had given their blood, sweat and tears in their preparation.

Every team member was ready to go through all the hardships again to bring home the win.

"Thanks, girls. Great work. See you guys after the winter break! Have a great holiday". Hye Jin said as she took a sip of water.

Hye Jin and Yuta left the gym and waited at the school gate for his mother.

Hye Jin had met Yuta's mother before, so she wasn't feeling nervous.

Both of them were wrapped in big coats and thick scarf in the chilling wind.
