Minerva had never really cared for Slytherins. Okay, that was wrong. She would look out for them, as she did all her students. But they often didn't need protecting. Snape

Wait, Snape? Who was he? Minerva noticed Albus clapping more for this boy than the others. Maybe it's good luck, she thought. If he's not a Pureblood, he's doomed.

She watched as Snape descended from the stool, had a quick glance around the hall, and scurried over to the Slytherin table, before seating himself beside the smarmy but relatively good-mannered Prefect, Lucius Malfoy.

Now, rumour had it that Malfoy was well on his way to becoming one of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's followers, but Minerva tried to be nice, and therefore believed the best of most people. Just not Slytherins.
