April

My tummy's already rumbling by the time I finished editing my news articles. I skipped lunch today because I didn't want to eat alone. The bullies will pick on me for sure.

The Student Council is on a leadership training so Ella's not around to scare them away. As for Migs and Troy, I don't know where they are. I've been avoiding them for days. I'm still mad at them for locking horns with each other. I kinda miss them though.

Oh well. Guess I'd have to deal with the monsters all by myself. I can't starve myself to death. I left the publication office and went to the locker room.

"Hi, April!"

"Joey! How are you?"

Joey is a nice guy. We're not really close but we say hello every time we run into each other. He works as a janitor at daytime and studies at night.

"I'm good. And you?"

"Famished."

"Skipped lunch again?"

"Yeah. Didn't want to encounter the monsters."

"Haha. You should just ignore them completely."

"That's what I have in mind now. Would you like to join me? I'm headed to the cafeteria."

"I'm afraid I can't."

He lifted a pail of water and a mop for me to see. Right. He's on duty. Seems like I really have to go solo.

"Hey, don't be sad. You'll get by."

"I hope so."

"Here. Something to cheer you up."

Joey handed me a paper bag.

"What's this?"

"Someone was here waiting for you earlier. I think he'd be late for his next class so he asked me to give that to you."

"Did you get his name?"

"No. He was in a hurry."

I was wondering who he could be when Joey startled me.

"Looks like you've got a suitor, eh?," he teased and left.

I kept my things in the locker and opened the paper bag.

"Aaahhh, The Fault In Our Stars! Oh my gosh!," I exclaimed as I hugged the novel.

I've been wanting to buy this but I'm broke so I settled for the ebook in Ella's kindle. Yeah. I've read it already but I still wanted a hard copy.  Oh, I'm the happiest bookworm at the moment!

I was carefully putting the book back in the paper bag when I noticed a picture in it. I took it out and my heart melted. It's a selfie.

Troy's sad face selfie. Still so handsome even when he's frowning. I flipped it back and read his message.

Sea princess,

I have no excuse for my behavior at the publication office. I promise it won't happen again. Please stop avoiding me. I'm really sorry.

                                                                                                                                                       TROY

I smiled and looked at his picture again. Why do you have to be so charming, Samuel Troy?

I turned to my left and then to my right to make sure I was alone and giggled as I kissed Troy's photograph.
