It was weird, matt and Tom had woken up and were already in a random room. But what was the weirder thing you may ask? The fact there's a white board with a math problem before them.
"What...the fuck" Tom muttered
"Math? I mean, it could of been worse right? I'm pretty good at math.." matt hummed, walking up to the white board curiously
"You of all people matt? Your good at math?" Tom crossed his arms
"Yep! I had all A's in math as a kid." Matt smiled, picking up the marker

"Good morning boys! Glad to say today is a very, easy one for once. Math should be easy. Well easy enough, you have 5 minutes" tord leaned back in his seat, watching silently now as matt begun working on the problem. He indeed know that matt knew math very well.

Of course by the time the clock had gotten to 3 minutes matt had finished, the problem checked over and decided that it was correct. Tom was next. He, knew math. But he almost ran out of time solving it. It was correct of course but he took longer. Tord ended up just shrugging, standing up "take them back to their cells, I have more important things to do then this. Retrieve them later"
Paul and pat nodded, following orders as directed.

[i know that was short I apologize]
Later that night

Matt and Tom were just starting to fall asleep, the day having of gone by slow and had been boring. But what they didn't expect was to wake and be sitting in a large box with piles of sand, as well as water for some reason

"Wakey wakey boys! Your next trial is a good one. You must find the key to the door to escape, before the room fills with water. Easy enough right? Since the sand will absorb the water for the most part." Tord muses, sitting down to watch

Matt, who wasn't a fan of enclosed spaces began to frantically look around, tom didn't seem to put 2&2 together that matt was freaking out about the space.

"Tom- tom I'll look here you, you look there-"
"Matt, chill. There's barely any water coming in here just take a deep breath and relax." He set a hand on the gingers shoulder, frowning "we will find the key. It's easy to find stuff in the sand."

His reassuring words helped a little bit, they just need to look carefully.

The two were digging through each sand dune, carefully searching.

Why can't they find it?

By the time they basically searched every corner, matt began to panic again at the inability to find the key. The water was almost to their knees
"Where is the key? He said it was here!" Matt ran his fingers through his hair
"It has to be here somewhere, we have to think. This is tord we're talking about. He must of-" he stopped, grabbing matts arms when he had started to tug his hair "..wait-"
"W-what?" Matt put his arms down when tom let go, looking at him extremely confused until tom reached forward, pulling on the string around matts neck...
"When..did that?.."
"I told you" tom took the necklace off matt, unlocking the door for them. Matt of course dashed out of the room and took a deep breath, though tom moved and looked up at Tord " he always has something up his sleeve. He knows you would panic. But you had it all along."
"..sorry I didn't realize-"
"It's fine matt. No worries" tom smiled, patting his back

"...sir?" Pat took a step forward "what now?"

Tord blew his cigarette smoke towards the class, turning his chair to face him "prepare tomorrow's trial, the last piece is almost ready for them."

Wow this was a short chapter I am sorry lmao
Tord is basically throwing a curve ball at the boys in attempt to throw them off guard, and I will be honest I suck at math so I didn't know how to explain it. I hope you enjoyed the chapter the next one will be uploaded today as well!
