two weeks later

Neither boys have spoken to each other. Both of them sad because of the separation. The little person within them that made them feel all the joy in the world has faded. Two weeks without a word or text or knock on the door.

The night of the incident, Troye ran back to the flat and refused to let himself out. Jacob texted, called, even came knocking on his door and yelled for hours for him. Troye didn't move.

Jacob thought it best to just let Troye become comfortable again and let him initiate a conversation. Now, only Joe and Casper talk to Troye because he quit his job at the library and Tyler just became distant.

Just sad boys they were.
___

The blankets swirled around his body while he slept peacefully. His blonde curls falling over his face so delicately but his cheeks were red from the long night of crying.

In another light, another man with dark brown hair and hazel eyes sat up in his bedroom and wrote down anything he was feeling. Turned everything into poetry. Poured out all of the emotions built up inside of him and just let it go all on the thin sheet of white paper. Eventually, it led to his sorrow and he curled up in bed while tears trickled down his face.
___

Troye stirred awake only to be blinded by the sun peaking through the window blinds. He hadn't hardly been outside, only when his mates dragged him out. He didn't know why he felt so strong for someone he only knew for such a small time. Confusion and sadness overrode him.

A new text shown on his phone.

joe slug: do you want to go to the bar tonight with me and cas? we won't be for very long.

He thought a little night out wouldn't hurt, he could even meet someone new and forget about Jacob.

Jacob

His name rolled off your tongue like dripping golden honey, and it was music to Troye's ears.

No.

Forget and let go was all on his mind tonight.

Soon enough Troye got back into the routine of the day and applied for a new job at the old thrift store down the street that was run by a sweet old lady. Probably too old to be working anyways. But he misses Tyler and him at the library.

Troye picked up things for him to actually eat instead of stale dry cereal for the past two weeks. He also showered and scrubbed all the memories down the drain once again.

His past was always going to be in the back of his head, forever telling him what it was. It is and always will be something that makes him Troye. It's part of him. And no amount of human will ever learn to love something like him.

Jacob left before he knew anything important about Troye and maybe that was the best thing for the both of them, despite their hearts.
___

"Publish them. Quit your job." Hari whispered so quietly and looked up with a small smile. She was proud of him for following his heart and not anyone else.

It was all the convincing Jacob needed. Sacrificing to get Troye back. Even if it was only as friends.

He immediately ran out of the studio and to his house to gather up all his works and run them down the the post office to send into the nearest book publishing company. No thoughts were ahead for him, he was just doing whatever came to him mind and followed through.

It was so foreign but exhilarating.

He could't wait for the words to slip past his lips and into Troye's ears. "I quit. No more cameras, no more publicity, no more drama. Just us."
