Every time I close my eyes,
A pang of unease,
A sense of sombre,
Makes my thoughts wander.
I could imagine myself,
In the coming years,
My world will turn,
Heads over heels.
I'll be like an eagle,
In a huge cage,
The doors will be open,
But my feathers will be fettered.
I'll have this huge rock,
Poised perfectly on my back,
I don't know what I lack,
But I should not get off track.
My world will be surrounded,
Not by storybooks,
But study books,
And expectant looks.
Deep down,
I know I won't drown,
I know it's for me,
To have a better future.
The path planned for me,
Has everything I need,
But not what I want,
Sacrifices will be mandatory.
Right now,
I can already feel,
The last of my freedom,
Slipping from my fingers,
One by one.
The expectation show will run,
Till the day I get,
The price of my sacrifices,
of my hard work.
