Star Gazing

Laying in the grass, I gave up at the heavens
Twinkling above me is Ursa Major
To my left, the trees dance in the wind
Suddenly, a lone grasshopper jumps next to me
He looks at me, then hops away

Laying there, I can hear the slight whistle of the wind
And the rustling of the grass and dancing trees.
In the distance, a slight "Hoo" comes from the woods
Along with the cries of a lone wolf
Calling out to the new-born moon

I close my eyes and inhale sharply
I smell the crispness of the air and smile
There's a slight hint of burning wood and fresh cut grass
The mixture of smells makes my smile grow

I drag my hand over the grass.
The individual blades run slightly under my fingers
Exchanging water droplets from them onto my hand
I also feel the cold wind on my face
Sending a chill throughout my body
