Mark put Jack's stuff down in the guest bedroom and sat down on the bed. He was panicking. He was afraid that Jack will find everything out sooner than he wanted.
"Okay, Mark. Stay calm," he told to himself between deep breaths. "You have to stay calm, you don't want to freak out Jack yet."
He took another deep breath and it seemed that his power was held back. He felt much better, but he was still afraid that he might hurt Jack. Master Shan told him that his power is the most dangerous one, and he was right. He can set anything on fire within a second and if he can't control that it's even more dangerous. He stood up and went up to the door to leave the room and head back to the living room. Jack was still on the floor, playing with Chica. Even that Jack was tired he looked so energetic, like always.
"Are you really that tired?" Mark asked as he chuckled.
"Well, you know me." Jack smiled back at him as he stood up.
"Go on and take a quick nap," said Mark, pointing at the guest room. "What do you want for lunch?"
"I don't know..." said Jack as he went past Mark. "Pizza, maybe."
Mark nodded and watched as Jack went to the bedroom. He followed him and watched as he numbly fell onto the bed without changing his clothes. Mark chuckled as he watched Jack drifting into sleep and slowly closed the door. He then ordered pizza before he went to his recording room. He didn't have other things to do so he recorded a video for today and tomorrow as well. Something told him that he won't have the time tomorrow to record anything. After he was done he got a text from Sydra. Master Shan told her to remind Mark about his power and asked him if everything was okay. Mark replied with a simple okay, then left his recording room. He took a quick look at Jack, who was peacefully sleeping, so Mark let him rest. He went back to the living room and sat down on the floor in front of the couch. If he wanted to learn how to control his power he had to practice. He was curious also about why he had that feeling back in the car. It scared him a little that he might melt the steering wheel fully.
He was doing the meditation he learned yesterday, taking deep breaths. He was concentrating fully on his power and the fire he felt inside him, building up again. This time though he was confident. He could do it. He kept taking deep breaths and it looked like he was getting it. There was a knock on the door, so he quickly stood up. He opened it and it was the pizza delivery guy. He paid him then thanked him before the guy left. Mark put the boxes on the kitchen counter then went to the guest bedroom and opened the door.
"Jack..." he said quietly and Jack turned his sleepy head to look at Mark. "The pizza is here."
Jack's eyes popped open suddenly and quickly jumped out of bed to run to the kitchen. Mark laughed at him as he followed his friend to the kitchen. Jack could be such a kid sometimes, especially if it was about food. Mark grabbed a slice too and sat down next to Jack on the couch.
"Did you sleep well?" asked Mark then took a bite.
"I haven't slept this long for a while." Jack chuckled then he took a bite too. "So what were you planning for the week?"
"I don't know," said Mark. "You know... just hang out. Maybe record something together."
They were silently eating because they didn't know what to talk about, but then Jack turned to Mark with his full body.
"Mark, are you sure you don't want to talk about... you know, about what happened in the car," said Jack and Mark just hung down his head.
"Nothing happened there, really... I'm fine," said Mark, but Jack of course didn't let the topic go.
"You know you can talk with me about anything," said Jack and tried to look into Mark's eyes, but he just turned away. "Fine, if you don't want to talk about it, it's okay. Just for you to know that... I'm here if you..."
"Thanks," said Mark to cut Jack off and Jack just nodded.
They sat in silence and continued eating. Jack then was finished and decided to go to his room. He thanked Mark for the food then told him that he will be in his room. Mark just nodded and watched as Jack left the kitchen. He stood up as well and put the leftover away in the fridge then he put the dishes into the sink. Mark went to his recording room to record another video for the night, while Jack took another nap. They spent the rest of the day in their rooms, Mark mostly because he wanted to learn how to control his power, while Jack was thinking about what happened in the morning.
The next day when Jack woke up Mark was already up and was making breakfast in the kitchen. He slowly went over to him, but without him noticing it. Jack expected to hear Mark talk about something, but he was just simply humming a song, while he made pancakes.
"Good morning," said Jack as he went up to him.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" asked Mark.
"Yeah, I'm good." nodded Jack then looked at the pan. "Whatcha doin'?"
"Pancakes. Are you hungry?" smiled Mark at Jack and he started feeling the fire inside him again.
"I'm always hungry." laughed Jack and it made Mark laugh too.
Mark watched Jack as he went to the living room to play with Chica. He was about to melt something again. He took deep breaths to calm himself down. He was doing so well yesterday. He felt like he was ready, but now all of a sudden he was in trouble again. When the wooden spatula suddenly set on fire and completely burnt in Mark's hand he knew that he had to do something about this. The fire was getting out of his control again. He was planning to visit Master Shan, but he didn't know how to leave the house. He had to lie to Jack in order to leave. But how? What should he say?
