♡♡♡"Good morning! Today for lunch is a real beef patty along with fruit and vegetables...," the announcer said while I began ignoring the announcements. I never need to know what the announcements are because I don't belong in any clubs or school lunches and stuff like that.
I was doodling on a piece of paper before class starts and my new random sketch wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My peers were talking amongst each other, some had headphones in and some that were playing on their Nintendo Switches. That dude the commented on me awhile back hasn't been in school since then. There had been rumors that he died from a drug overdose, moved to the next town over or just is lazy to get out of his bed in the morning. I didn't really care about him and the first rumor seems too far fetched.
"We are very sorry but this years talent show is cancelled due to money restrictions." the announcer explained in a sorrowful tone.
How could the talent show be cancelled? Carter and I were going to do our singing act, but I guess things were meant to be. It's pretty disappointing when something I actually wanted to do gets cancelled a week before auditions would start. Looks like I'm going to keep my singing voice to myself.
Most of the students were discounted because I could see it in their eyes. Our school hasn't even used the slightest bit of money yet this year. It's winter and heating has to be used but could that be what is throwing money out the door?
I could hear students yelling from the surrounding classes. Talent shows in my school were taken very seriously for no apparent reason. I mean, it's not like it's going to get us anywhere. I thinks it's fun but people in my town think that's they will be on The Voice when they're older.
♡♡♡
"Hey, did you hear about the tal-," Carter started before I interrupted him. School ended for vacation and I was excited.
"Yeah, a lot of people were screaming in other classes around me," I laugh, trying to keep my cool.
"Huh, people really do enjoy showing their tricks," Carter chuckled as he held the door open for me.
I had my winter coat and scarf on and I was ready for this vacation. Most students needed it; including me. School is becoming stressful because of mid-terms and multiple tests that are coming up soon.
"Wren?" Carter asked as he brushed up against my shoulder.
"Yes?" I say.
"Are you available for this weekend?"
"Pretty much since I have no life at my home. Why are you asking?"
"I want to bring you to somewhere warm and something that has a beach. I want to spend time with you," Carter explained while rubbing his neck in nervousness.
"In that case, it's a yes!" I accept with happiness.
"I'll pick you up at 3? I have to get your dads permission anyway," Carter suggested. He began walking me to my house and I'm pretty sure he is.
