All day I kept bumping into Xavier. His eyes were so cold, but his smile was warm. School was finally out, and Xavier was leaning against his car. I walked up to him, and smiled.
“You have been giving me a very cold look,” I said and he smiled, “Stop smiling like that.”
“Be careful with Alec,” Xavier said.
“You think he’s going to hurt me?” I asked.
“No, you’re going to hurt him.” He said and opened the passenger side door.
“How could I hurt him?” I asked.
“He hasn’t dated since freshman year because she said she didn’t love him anymore,” Xavier said, “And you’ll do the same thing. If you start to date him or tell him you like him I will make sure you leave him alone.”
“EVER!” Alec yelled from across the parking lot.
“Hey” I yelled back and looked at Xavier, “It’s just one date.”
I walked over to Alec, and smiled.
“Hey, what were you guys talking about?” Alec asked.
“You, he told me not to hurt you.” I said and he was shocked.
“Let’s go on that date,” he said and smiled at me. I got into his car, and thought about why Xavier opened the passenger door, “Where will you like to go?”
“I don’t know,” I said and smiled at him. I heard a phone start to ring, and he answered his phone.
“Yeah,” he said and smiled at me, “What? I’m on a date. Well you should. F**k you, man.”
She shut his phone, and looked out the window.
“Is” right as I was about to ask if everything would be a right he interrupted me.
“Don’t ask; just go, and I’ll pick you up at 7 PM.” He said and I got out of his car. He also got out and grabbed a bag. He headed back into the school. I looked over at Xavier still having the passenger door open.
“What did you do?” I asked him.
“Nothing, he forgot that he had practice today.” Xavier said and I got into his car. I was trying to get my thoughts together. Was I going on a date to make Xavier jealous? Do I hate him? Or do I like him? I threw my head back and looked up at the ceiling of the car. I realized that Xavier is bad news, and Alec might be bad news; I shouldn’t be by Xavier any more. Xavier’s car came to a stop because it was a red light, and I quickly got out. Xavier was yelling at me, but I kept walking. My legs were in a lot of pain, but I couldn’t be by Xavier anymore. The medicine was helping, but the bruises were still super painful.
Someone wrapped their arms around me, and was pulling me back. I was kicking and screaming.
“Would you just shut up,” Xavier said turning me around and kissed me. I pushed him away from me, and looked at him.
“Your bad news and I know it. I have to leave; it’s best for both of us. We are just friends” I said sitting down at the curb and I felt his eyes just staring.
“I’m fine with being friends. Most guys wouldn’t, but your right,” Xavier said sitting down next to me at the curb,
“Why do you say one thing and do the next?” I asked him.
“Because around you I can’t think straight,” He smiled at me.
“If you’re trying to make me like you more, it’s not going to work.” I said looking up at the sky.
