Chapter 2: Clawmates

As I watched my parents disappear into the trees, a familiar voice reaches my ears. "Tear! Tear? TEARDROP!!"

"Oof!"

Someone comes barrelling into me, sending me over. I look up from my spot on the ground to see a gold dragonet with a SandWing ridge on her head to her snout, the rest of her spikes are NightWing with the same two silver teardrop scales that her mother has, and a barb on the end of her golden tail sitting on top of me. She also has sparkly blue eyes and a translucent diamond necklace, just like mine. "Three moons, sorry!" Moonrise laughs as she jumps off me, using her wings to steady herself and float her back to the ground. I got up, my scales shifting from their usual black and indigo NightWing colours to gold in amusement. "No worries, Rise!" I laugh.

BONG!

BONG!

Suddenly, the reverberating echo of a gong being struck carried across the entire mountain. "Time to go inside!" Rise, as I like to call her, leapt up and down. "Are you nervous at all?" I ask her. She stops. "Totally. And you?" She asks. I nod. "Hey, it's okay," she says, cupping her talons around her translucent diamond, which was a faded gold against her scales. "After all, we might not be the only Animus Dragons here," she says. I sigh. "I doubt it, Rise," I say, looking down at my own diamond, which is a faded black and indigo against my now normal coloured scales. "Well, we may as well go inside." Rise says. I nod. Together, me and Rise walked into the entrance cave, all the other dragonets a blur.

"Hey! Welcome to Jade Mountain Academy! I'm Fatespeaker. What are your names?" A NightWing suddenly bounds up to us.

Weird, she has small mind reading teardrop scales.... Rise telepathically messages me.

I know... can she read minds? Wait, I told her, raking my brain. No, she can't. Mother told me Starflight met her when he was captured by the NightWings. She can't read minds, and only thinks that she can see the future. She really can't.

"Uhh... I'm Teardrop, but you can call me Tear," I answer awkwardly. She nods. "And I'm Moonrise, but you can just call me Rise." Rise answers. Fatespeaker whips out a scroll and looks at it. "Hmm..." she hums. "Oh! Here you are! Your cave is cave 101, down the corridor to the left. Your Clawmates are already there." She smiles. "Clawmates?" I ask. "Yes. At Jade Mountain Academy, you'll be working with dragonets from all of the tribes. It says you're in the Jade Winglet, so your cave Clawmates will be Prince Blizzard of the IceWings and Scorcher of the SandWings. Have fun!" And with that, she whirled away from us. Rise and I looked at each other. Then we looked at the corridor. Then we walked into the corridor, but were stopped by a crowd around a sparkly scales high and mighty... IceWing.

Sorry if this is shorter than Chapter 1, but I did my best and since I can't type with my right hand and I'm used to typing with both, my left arm gets tired of whizzing around to press these letters on the keyboard. Nonetheless, hope you enjoyed!
