We have been walking for hours now and my feet are killing me. The branches crunched underneath are feet and the leaves blew in the wind. I zipped up my jacket as the wind blew against my skin. "Can I have a piggyback?" I asked. He turned around and looked at me weirdly. "That will slow us down." He said.
"Please." I begged. He rolled his eyes. He crouched down and I climbed onto his shoulders and sat down and I relaxed. "Your really heavy Buttercup." He said panting. "I'm not that heavy." I scowled. "That's what you think." He muttered.
I whacked him on the head. "I heard that." I said. "Ouch! Jesus! Your a mad woman." He growled. I grinned. "Of course you hear anything your a bloody bat." He mumbled. "Heard that too." I said. He started cursing underneath his breath. A song came to my head randomly and I began singing.
"99 bottles of beer on the wall
99 bottles of beer
Take one down, pass it around
98 bottles of beer on the wall.
98 bottles of beer on the wall
98 bottles of beer
Take one down, pass it around
97 bottles of beer on the wall
97 bottles of beer on the wall
97 bottles of beer
Take one down, pass it around
96 bottles of beer on the wall...."I sang for about 18 minutes and Aguilar looked like he was about to explode. "3 bottles of beer on the wall
3 bottles of beer
Take one down, pass it around
2 bottles of beer on the wall
2 bottles of beer on the wall
2 bottles of beer
Take one day pass it around
1 bottle of beer on the wall
1 bottle of beer on the wall
1 bottle of beer
Take it down pass it around no bottles of beer on the wall." I finished."Finally!" He said with a cry of joy. "Oops I left out a number I Better start again, 99 bottles-" "NO!" He yelled. "Please no my poor ears have suffered enough from your singing and that song." He said rubbing his ears.
I glared at him. "Pity they didn't erase songs from your memory." He muttered. "They did It just came to me." I said shrugging. He looked up at me on his shoulders and gave me a weird look and kept walking. "Your really odd Buttercup." He said.
"Why thank you Nimrod, your not so bad yourself." I said. He rolled his eyes. "Keep rolling those eyes and you might find a Brain back there." I said. "Keep talking and you might say something that might make sense."
I narrowed my eyes. "You know your really stubborn." I said. "Takes one to know one." He replied. I didn't bother talking. He always has a smart answer for everything. Know it all.
We came to a stop and Aguilar dropped me. I growled at him and rubbed my head. "You didn't have to drop me." I said rubbing my arm. "You didn't have to nearly choke me half of the way here." He said.
We set up a fire and and I sat in front of the blazing fire keeping warm. He sat opposite me. "You hungry Buttercup?" He asked. "No thanks." I said. I couldn't stop thinking of Sarah, Harry and Ava. Sarah was dead, Ava and Harry are probably as well. I left Harry to die along with Ava. I'm a selfish Bitch. I shouldn't of left Harry. I could of dragged him with me and he could be here right now.
I hugged my knees and put my head in my lap as tears formed In my eyes. I did make Harry a promise but I shouldn't of left him. It was wrong of me to let them to take him and make him suffer. I let the tears fall and I hugged my knees tighter.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked to see a blurry Aguilar. "What's wrong Buttercup?" He asked sitting next to me. "I-I left them to Rott there and I was selfish and I left them there to die." I said sniffing. He hugged me. "Want to tell me what happened?" He asked. I pulled away and slowly nodded and sniffed.
"On the first day a guy called James was taken first and that night I saw the vent and I got the idea of using it and I did and I explored the place and that's when I saw him tubes sticking out of. They were draining his blood. But I didn't know it at the time. I believed he really was sick then after a while I figured out they were bad people. I used to visit a five year old named Sarah.... She was a little sister to me. I used to read her a bedtime story sometimes and come and chat to her and I gave her my dinner but then on the thirteenth day they took her and k-killed her," I let out a sob.
"Then Ava Harry and I decided to Escape but Ava got taken away and me and Harry were the last two left. We waited till midnight to escape and we nearly made it until Janson caught us and we ran for our lives towards the forest and then he made me make him a promise that if he got caught that I would run and wouldn't help. I argued but agreed in the end and he got caught and I was about to help him until he reminded me of the promise and he brought Sarah into it saying 'For her' and you know what I did? I ran like a coward and then I met you." I said and then sobbed again.
"Sshh it's alright, you made a promise and you kept it. You aren't selfish Buttercup. They wanted you to survive and you have survived." He said. "Sorry to hear about Sarah." He said quietly. "Thanks." I said in a small voice.
He wrapped his arms around me and we lay on the cold hard surface and I fell asleep like that letting all my thoughts drift away.
