My eyes flickered open. I was blinded by a bright light and I adjusted to it. My heart began to race. Where the hell was I? I took of the mask on my face and my heart was pounding in my chest. I sat up and to be faced with about six people. "Natalie, I know you must be confused, I'm Dr Janson, these are the other Doctors, we saved you from the people after you. I know this is all confusing but in time you will understand he said.
"Why can't I remember anything?!" I asked panic in my voice. "It's alright the bad people after you erased your memories and we brought you here to keep you safe from harm." He said. I sat up quickly. The room felt stuffy and my head was pounding with a headache. I swung my legs off the bed and stumbled around the place and went over to a wall for support.
"Take an easy, you'll hurt yourself." He Said. I looked ahead to see automatic doors. I felt my head as the headache got worse.
"Your head might be sore for a while but that's perfectly normal." Janson Said. His voice echoed throughout my head. I looked around to see others knocked out. I was the only one awake along with a little girl.
The girl began to cry. The only thing I remember is my name. Natalie. Janson began whispering to the other Doctors. I blinked my eyes a few times. Someone grabbed me and the little girl and we were both dragged to a room. I staggered and regained my balance. "Where the hell am I?" I asked. Janson didn't reply. "What the hell is this place!" I yelled and he shoved us into a room. "We're a government that help kids escape from The Blair Institution." He said.
"The Blair Institution?" I asked. The double doors shut and I banged on them. I looked up and saw four cameras in each corner of the room. "Let us out you bastards!" I yelled.
The little girl stared at me. I sat down on the couch and sighed. "What's your name?" She asked. Her voice was cracked and shaky. "Natalie." I said. "Sarah."
"Do you remember anything?" She asked. I shook my head. I was about to ask her the same question and she shook her head. "I want to go home." She said letting tears fall. I put my arm around her.
"I know, it's ok you'll see them soon hopefully." I said smiling. She looked at me and gave me a small one. "I wonder if I have any siblings or animals." She said. "Maybe who knows." I said shrugging. Poor girl, she shouldn't be here. For all I know this place could be dangerous.
More people entered the room. They were about 15-19 years old. They were shoved into the room and the doors locked. They all stared around the room and some were crying silently. They all sat down in different places and half of the girls started sobbing and others were deep in thought.
"Do you guys remember anything?" A boy asked. We both shook our heads. "Woke up in a strange room with Doctors and a guy called Janson and got thrown in here." I said. They nodded.
"Since we're going to be stuck in here together we may as well go over names." I said. I started with the boy opposite me. "James." "Sawyer." "Sam." "Georgia." "Evan." "Faye." "Avery." "Ava." "Harry." "Jake." "Nick." "Kara." "Amelia." "Sarah." "Natalie." I said.
They all nodded there heads. A few Doctors came in and grabbed Sarah. I grabbed her arm and they pulled her away. I was about to go get her back until someone punched me and went to the ground. I held my nose. Janson looked down at me.
"A few rules. I don't want any trouble makers, do as we say and stay out of trouble." He said looking straight at me as he said the last part. I'm not that much of a troublemaker. He left with the others and I put my sleeve to my nose and stopped the bleeding.
They all looked at each other. Everyone was silent for the rest of the day. As my headache faded away I looked into the corners of the room. There was a camera in each corner. Creeps.
James and Avery began to talk. A few others did the same and me and Jake were the only ones not talking. I checked my watch and it read six pm. I sighed and I eavesdropped on people's conversations.
"Where are we?"
"What do they want?"
"Are we going to die?"
"Are we going to starve to death?"
"Will we ever get out of here?"
Everyone was now asking each other questions. They were so loud. I groaned. Why couldn't I be Sarah, Or by myself or with a quiet group. I rather not be here at all. I wish Sarah was never Captured. She doesn't deserve this. She deserves to be happy and be with her family having a lovely dinner and playing with her dogs or cats and having fun with her siblings. She should be in her room in bed with her mom reading her a bedtime story.
I felt bad for her. She's just an innocent child caught up in this mess. All of them believe that these people are good people. For me, something is off.
As it drew nearer to seven o'clock the doors opened and a man in a lab coat came in with a trolley of food. He passed it out to everyone. It was a bit of stale bread with a glass of water and dried up bacon. I drank the water and didn't eat. The others were eating as much as they possibly could. You swear they haven't eaten in days.
I gave my food to Amelia who was beside me. She was about to eat it until the man hissed at her. "No one gets extra food." Amelia looked at me and shrugged and handed it back to me. I handed back to the man. "You must eat." He said. A lightbulb went off in my head and I took out my half smushed apple and took a bite of it. I ate it and threw it on the plate and put the plate on the trolley. "Where did you get that?" He asked.
I shrugged. "I just remembered I have it on me. I said. He stared at me as if I had a 'Fuck me sign' written on my forehead.
He looked away from me and he gathered the plates and left again. Everyone stared at me. "What? Do I have a 'Fuck me sign' written on my forehead or something?" I asked. They shook there heads and stayed silent.
I lay my head back on the couch and relaxed. I checked my watch and it was now Eight Pm. Time flys. Half of them were already asleep. The others just say there deep in thought. I got comfy and stared at the wall bored out of my mind. I looks up at the ceiling and saw an air vent. The lights suddenly went off. I checked my watch and it was eight thirty pm. I looked around in the darkness and everyone was sound asleep.
I got up quietly and stood on the table that was in the room and pushed open the air vent and pulled myself up. It took a lot of effort. I scrambled through the vent and I came to a room and I looked down. I saw Sarah sleeping peacefully with other children. I smiled down at her and crawled onwards. After taking a few twists and turns I came to another room and I looked down through the bars. I saw Janson talking with some other Doctors.
"Show me the results." He said. The man clicked some buttons and I came up on the screen. "She's different from the others, it's her blood, see the way there's is a bit low and hers are sky high. It's odd." The man stated.
"Special blood." Janson mumbled. "We could do a few more tests on her." The woman suggested. "No she'll get suspicious, we'll do it in order." He said. They both nodded. "We start tomorrow morning, first one is Subject B3 followed by Subject A9 and the last one shall be Subject A4." He stated walking away. Both of them got to work immediately.
I turned back and crawled back to the room again. I slid down carefully and put the steal door in place again and sat down on the couch and hundreds of questions were racing through my mind right now. What the hell did these people want? What's so special about me? Are we going to die? I closed my eyes and finally managed to go to sleep.
