Eric POV
"Ok, seems that you two are cleared," Jack says, rising from his chair. I sigh in exhaustion, throwing my head back to stare at the marble ceiling. I can hear Jack leave the room and his Candor and some Dauntless guards follow behind. I rub my eyes and stand up to stretch my arms. Marcus and Caleb still sit in their interrogation chairs and peer at me. Jack made the decision to have a private interrogation for the two of them to save time.
"What are you two looking at?" I narrow my eyes at them. "Scram, Dauntless need to have a meeting in here."
The Erudite boy gets the hint and hurriedly scurries away, but Marcus stays seated. I sit back down just as Vana stands up, heading to the white board.
"Actually, I had wished to make a deal with you all. Perhaps my faction and yours can become allies-" Marcus says but is cut off by the sound of Everret smacking his hand on the wooden table.
"We're Dauntless not dumb," He growls, surprising me. I can tell Ada's death has affected him greatly. He was no longer the cheerful Everret I knew him as. This Everret was much more dark and intimidating. "The answer is no, now get out."
Marcus glares at Everret but rises from his chair and leaves. Vana picks up a marker and starts to write words on the white board. I take this time to try and sneak in a few minutes of rest. I rest my ear on the table and close my eyes.
"No sleeping!" Vana screeches in my bandaged ear and I shoot up from my nap.
She strolls back to the white board and points at the first bullet with her index finger.
1. Find out about the serum
"I was able to nab one of the fake bullets from a kid walking down the hall," Vana holds up the hollow bullet shaped injection. "We need to find out what this is how it works. And most importantly, who has been injected with it."
"And how will we do that? Were not Erudite." Everret says, slouching into his chair.
"No, but some of the faction is divergent. Some of them has to have Erudite characterstics. Daisy or Tris could probably help," She trails off for a second. "Oh! Four! I can ask him about it!"
"Why would you ask him about it?" I keep my stormy eyes on the wall so I don't show her the jealousy in my eyes.
There she goes again, running off to Four because you're no good for her I think to myself.
"Because he's smart," She says, confused at my change of tone. This only makes myself feel uncontrollably angrier, and angry blush rises to my ears.
"I'm smart," I snap under my breath. I don't look at her but I can tell her eyes widen. She leans in toward me and only then do I look at her. Her eyes blazing with confusion and aggravation stare into mine. Her jaw locks into place and even though she's angry with me, I can't ignore how beatiful.
"What is wrong with you?" She hisses at me. "Why are you acting like an asshole?"
"I'm not." I seeth right back. "What's next?"
2. Find a way to guard the "Peace Treaty Meeting"
"Easy bring guns," I say.
"We can't we promised Kang we wouldn't," She says.
"I thought we were lying about not bringing weapons," Everret mutters.
"No, Jack will probably search us for weapons anyway. So, we need to think outside of the box." Vana says, moving her hands into the shape of a square.
"We'll just hire guards," I say.
"No guard can be in the meeting with a weapon, but how about we get guards to watch us from outside the meeting?" Her voice says, hinting at something I cant understand.
