Unheard Beauty (Melix, mute)

Chapter 9

 Marzia's POV

Christmas morning we opened presents at Felix's. He got me a new bracelet with a heart, some new clothes, a cooking book I had asked for but before we left for Jack and Signe's he stops me 

"Hey you have one more present" I tilt my head and he hands me a small wrapped box. I open it up and stop when I see a small ring box that says 'I promise' on the top

I look up to him with tears in my eyes and he nods to the box with a soft smile. I open it to a small gold ring with two diamonds. He takes it from the box and takes my hand "I wanted to ask if you'd be my girlfriend?" 

I nod wishing so badly that I could speak to him and tell him how happy I am and how surreal everything became once he slid it onto my finger 

I hug him tightly until he whispers "Come on babe, don't wanna be late to Jack and Signe's" My face heats up at the name I never thought I'd hear from him

I nod and we head out to their house with our fingers intertwined 

Once we get inside everyone, Jack, Signe, and two other people are inside "Emma, Pj, this is my girlfriend Marzia" Felix introduced which surprised Signe and Jack though they didn't say anything

We shake hands and they say hi but they seemed taken back when I don't say anything. Guess they weren't told "Not a big talker?" Pj asked "Oh shit! Sorry babe" Felix apologizes, I love hearing that from him the fact that I'm his babe

"Emma, Pj, Marzia is actually mute. She has a notepad she writes on to talk" "And I know sign language so her and I talk" Signe adds 

"Ah makes since" Emma says while chuckling "Well it's great to meet you" I nod and smile "So time for presents!" Jack says running to the tree and sitting down by it. We all chuckle and follow after, Signe taking her seat in his lap 

We all open our gifts and I gave Felix the ring I bought him, luckily he loved it, and the rest of the day we hung out, they all talked and joked around and I was pretty surprised that they included me. More than I was when I first met Jack and Signe since it was only a few of us that day now it's more people so I wasn't expecting them to talk to me

I wish I could talk though

I look to Signe 'can we talk in private?'she nods and looks up to Jack from his lap, and sets a hand on his chest "Marzia and I are gonna go talk" He nods and they kiss before she stands up and we go upstairs to their room 

"Yeah what's up?" I take in a deep breath and let it out 'is there a way I can.....be able to talk normally?' she freezes slightly "Oh uhm, I'm not sure. Why would you want to? I mean I understand but I thought you didn't mind being mute" I shake my head 'I've never liked being like this. I wish I could just be a normal human and talk. Like this I have to spell out every letter with my hands.' I look away from Signe as a few tears fell 

"You want to talk to Felix and us right?" I nod "Look Marzia, you know Felix doesn't mind that you can't talk right? If he did he wouldn't have asked you to be his girlfriend" I nod 'I know, I saw you two practicing sign language' "then you know he cares and he's trying for you" 

'then I should try for him too, please just tell me if you know a way' she sighs "Ok, I'll let you know if I find anything out. Ok?" I nod 'thank you'  "Of course, now let's get back to everyone" 

We go downstairs and I sit next to Felix while Signe sits back with Jack, we spend the rest of the day hanging out together and it was great
