Princess Mia woke up slowly from a long sleep to the sound of the gurgling stream which trickled through a corner of her confined space. She had no idea how long she'd been sleeping. All she knew was that she was in a dark place, a deep cave, and that the entrance was blocked. She could see a sliver of light from a small crack piercing the darkness surrounding her. She was trapped but was thankful she still had her little back pack with a small amount of food. Where was she? Who captured her? Why was she being held captive? And how long would she languish in this dank, uncomfortable cave?
She reasoned that someone or some creature must have captured her for some sinister reason. Why didn't they kill her? Did they know who she was? Did they plan to ransom her if they knew her identity? Or did they plan to sell her as a slave, or worse? She shuddered at the possibilities and tried to push these thoughts from her mind.
If only she had some means to communicate with her friend Pre, he would surely come to rescue her. How long would it take him to realize she was not returning, and to mount an attempt to find her? She could only wait, and wait. And sleep! She had plenty of time to do that. There was nothing else she could do.
