NINA'S POV

"See you tomorrow morning, Mr. Smith." I wave the bus driver.

"See you tomorrow," he said as I walked off the bus. I started walking home still listening to my music. After about 5 minutes, I decided to call Jenny.

"Hey, Jenny."

"Oh, hey Nina. How was your first day?" Jenny sounded very eager.

"I would say that it was AWESOME!"

"That's great! Soooo, what's going on between you and Luke?"

"What are you talking about?" I began blushing, but, luckily, she couldn't see. "Luke and I are just friends."

"Yea, that's what you think. I see the way he looks at you."What are you talking about?"

do"No no no. I highly doubt it. Plus, he's dating Lisa. She's way prettier and smarter than me. I'm nothing like her." I began to tear up. "I'll call you later."

"Wait, Nin-." I hung up. Noticing that I have five more minutes, I began crying, knowing that nobody would see me. Once I stopped, I wiped my tears. After I reached my street, I saw a figure outside my house. As I got closer, I recognized that it was Joseph. My sad heart filled with joy. As he saw me walking up towards him, he began to smile.

"Hey, Nina,"

"Hi, Joseph! Why don't you come inside? My father would be so happy to see you. You were practically the son he never had."

"Doesn't he have a son?"

"Yea. That's why I said the son he never had. Tre is always in his room."

"Yea, that's true. How is Tre by the way?"

"He's good, I guess. He has been handling the move very well."

"That's good. When did you move here anyway? I didn't notice any moving trucks."

"What do you mean?"

"Yea, I live right across from you," he pointed in the direction of his house.

"I moved last weekend. Let's go inside." I grabbed his hand and ran into my house. I heard Joseph mumble something, but thought my brain was playing tricks on me.

JOSEPH'S POV

I've never so happy in my life! Nina, my childhood friend and the love of my life, is back. After having a small conversation, I went back doing my project. It was hard to focus nevertheless. Her beauty distracted me from my work. Ryan was so lucky o have her as a subject, but he seems to want more from her.

"Are you going to take photos or not because I have better things to do," The stuck-up cheerleader said with an aggravated tone.

"Yea, yea. Just hold on one second would ya?" I don't why I chose her for this project. She doesn't even care about it. She may be pretty, I guess, but she's the most unbearable human being on Earth. "Get into position so we could get this over with it."

"You're lucky you're good-looking, sweet face," she said attempting to seduce me. I don't understand why she constantly flirts with me while she's dating someone else. I started the photo shoot with her. For a brainless slut, she is photogenic, good for my project.

Right after school, I made my way home. As I packed my camera away, the girl came up to me once again.

"Hey! I was wondering if you wanted to hang out at my place," she said as she twirled her hair with her finger.

"How about no. Why don't you go to your athletic boyfriend? You know the one you're dating?" And with that, she stormed off in a huff and I continued to adjust my camera. Then, Nina walked up to me.

"Hey Joseph, I just wanted to come and say that I have to go, but I wanted to know if you wanted to stop my house for dinner?"

"Of course! I'll see you around 6!" I gave her a hug and a kiss on her forehead. "I'll see you then," I said with a smile and a wink. I noticed her blush even though she turned away to hide it. Once I looked at the time, I rushed to my car and drove home.

Time Skip-----------------

I went home and got dressed. Once I looked at her address, I figured out that it was right across the street. After five minutes, I stood outside f her house waiting. I heard footsteps behind me and, when I turned around, saw her and began grinning from ear to ear. After a short conversation, she grabbed my hand and ran into her house.

"So beautiful," I whispered, hoping she had not heard me. Once we got inside, she pulled me right to her dad. "Hey, Mr.S. It has been a while."

"Oh dear god! Is that who I think it is?" He got up in excitement and his face lightened up. "It is! JOSEPH!" He charged towards me and gave a big hug.

"It's nice to see you too Mr. S, but I can't breathe." As he let go, I coughed as I took a deep breath.

"Father, is it ok if I bring Joseph up to m room?" Nina asked.

"Sure, sweetheart." Just then, she brought me up to her. I began to blush uncontrollably. In the hallway, we passed by her older brother, Tre.

"Tre, when did you get home?" Nina turned her head to the side in confusion

"Tre, when did you get home?" Nina turned her head to the side in confusion.

"About an hour ago. Don't bother me. I'll be in my room."

"No one is gonna need you, so do what you usually do. See ya"

"See ya. Oh, and tell your little boyfriend that he's as red as a tomato." I tried covering my face before she could notice. We then entered her room and she shut the door, making me more nervous than before. Nina went up to her dresser, looking at a photo.

"Do you remember this day?" She grabbed the photo with us, as kids, on it.

"I remember that day! Oh, it was so fun. We had a full day of a play date and we went everywhere." I grabbed the photo from her, smiling at the memory of that day. Suddenly, I heard sniffs. I looked up and saw Nina crying. It broke my heart at the very sight. "What's wrong, Nina?"

"That was the last day I've spent with my mother." She tried to stop crying, but it wouldn't.

"She was an amazing woman." I grabbed Nina and pulled her into a comforting embrace and she wept. After a while, Nina started to seize her sorrows. When she looked up, we locked eyes. Her eyes were red and puffy, but, nevertheless, maintained its shine. With our moment of looking deeply into each other's eyes, we inched closer and closer to each other to what felt like a magnetic force pulling us, giving us no control as we allow it to as so.
