Friday night. That's what today was. The normal average teenager would be out partying or doing some other crazy stuff. I am not the average teenager; I'm probably blow average with an old souls. So I sit here in my room wrapped in blankets with a nice book to read.Sure I now have friends, another great accomplishment, but I feel like a bother to them. And, I would much rather read over going out to party's. I'm mixed up with some of the popular people at Primrose high, so I haven't had as much time to myself.
I push up my glasses as my eyes find the way to the end of the page signaling the end of another good book. I sighed put the book down and get up letting all the blankets fall to the floor. My bare feet touched the cold surface of the wooden floor. Shivering ever so slitty I walk down the hall to the thermostat. After adjusting it I turn to go back to my room, but a ring of the doorbell stops me.
Knowing I'm the only one home due to it being Marie's night off I walked down the stairs and opened the door. There Leah, Audrey, and Jonathan stood. The semi chilly air hit my bear legs, as I wore a thin hoodie with my sleeping shorts. "Hey guys."
I was the first to speak as they smiled at me, "Hey girly," Audrey greeted me first and I motioned for them all to come in. Jonathan is the last to file in, time stopped as the cold ridge air seemed to stand still as he walked through the threshold. My breath hitched in my throat. Butterflies came to my stomach for some unknown reason, then he broke off our silent stare and walks fully inside.
"What are y'all doing here?" I asked the question that was had been on my mind the whole time.
"To invite you to go shopping, for the Halloween ball everyone is going to," Leah answered my question and I looked at her curiously.
"Why not just call me?"
"Full of questions are we?" Audrey commented.
"Because were all going a few towns over where we hear they have the best costumes for a minimal price. We're also leaving tonight. Short notice I know, but we really want you to come along," I looked at her with wide eyes. This was very short notice.
"I don't know. . ." I tailed off.
"Please it'll be fun!" Audrey tried to convince me.
I sighed, "ok Marie went to go visit her children so she won't be back till Monday as long as we get back before then I don't see the problem."
"Nice! Go pack a bag girly we'll wait for you in the car," Audrey was the first to walk out followed by everyone else.
I ran upstairs and packed enough clothes for two days seeing as we should just be coming and going. I also changed into some pants and a cute top with the Disney logo on the front. Grabbing an extra pair of shoes I throw them in the over night back, the go over to the bathroom and pack my essentials. After grabbing my makeup and phone stuff I ran down stairs and out the door locking it behind me.
The passengers seat was opened so after Jonathan grabbed my bag and threw it in the trunk he motioned for me to get in the passengers seat.
"We will be at our destination in exactly two and a half hours. Everyone buckled up?" Jonathan had spoken for the first time and his voice sent chills down my spine. After everyone gave a curt nod, he pulled out of my driveway.
I looked at the time and instinctually knew that this was going to a long drive.
"You have thirty minutes," Jonathan spoke for the second time throughout the whole ride. The times before Audrey and Leah chatted with me. So to say I was confused was an understatement.
