I must admit, It felt great to save someone's life. It's as if a huge weight has been lifted or some sort of relief because of the sinful life I've been living, I was finally able to make some sort of amend. Currently me and Ace are strolling around aimlessly. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions. Throw them all at me. I have all night." He said smiling as he looked up at the sky. I followed his gaze and ogled at the starry scenery before me. I realized it was quite late when I saw that the moon was well above us. I took out my phone and checked the time. It was 1 in the morning. " I meant I have all morning." he said chuckling when he saw the time on my phone.
I kept my phone and laughed along. "But I don't." I chuckled. "So shall we get to the questions then?" He asked taking a seat on the grass. He patted the space beside him on the grass for me to follow, so I sat by him. As I sat by him, I felt the wind around him spiral together with the grass around him. His hair followed to the rhythm. He looked far away into the sky. He was quite a sight to behold, he looked at peace. I starred at his beauty, as his hair ruffled in the wind and as he stared into the night sky.
"Must you really ogle?" He asked his face slightly red. I blinked and realized that I was starring to much. I felt my face heat up in embarrassment. "Sorry, Its just that your hair looks good in the wind that you're producing. By the way, why is there a circular motion of wind around you all the time?" I said tilting my head slightly to the side in confusion.
"Well you see, I have some sort of power. I sort of reek of energy. That's why I have wind around me all the time. I have yet to master how to suppress it. " He said making the wind around him move upwards and out to prove his point. I appreciated the air on my skin, even if it was cold out, the wind from his power or whatever, was warm.
"What power is it?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me. In a split second, his hand was approaching my face with incomparable speeds. I squeezed my eyes shut with fear bracing myself for the impact but all I felt was extremely strong air in my face, as if it came from a blower and then immediately stopped. I opened my eyes and saw his hand in front of my face, more importantly, it was glowing.
"I can concentrate my energy on one part of my body and it can give me inhuman strength." He said retrieving his hand. As he retrieved my hand, I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I shivered slightly in the memory of the incident. I hugged my knees and starred into the distance
"So what are you?" I said looking at him. He didn't look back, he simply stared into the vastness of the sky. "Well, I am sort of human but not really." He said, I gave him a confused look. He sensed this even without looking at me.
"Well, you see I can transfer from the spirit world without having to leave my body in the physical realm. I don't really know how to explain it, its weird. I'm sort of also a regulator. I regulate the flow of spirits into the spirit realm. I sort of sense death once its happened and come to take the lost soul and bring it to the spirit realm. I'm sort of as death as humans would call it. I'm sort of a lot of things." He said shrugging. "Not all regulator have powers like I do, lets say I was an experiment gone right." He said feeling the grass around him.
"A regulator and an experiment gone right huh?" I said trying let this all sync it. So much has happened the past few hours. It is sort of too much for a little human like me to handle all at once. Lost in my train of thought, something finally hit me. "Then if you're a regulator and your only missions is to bring souls to the spirit realm, then why are we saving people from dying?" I asked as my eyebrows knitted in confusions.
For the first time since we've been talking, he looked at me and gave a stern stare. He opened his mouth to speak but his lips quivered as if the topic was too heavy. We remained looking at each other like that for another few second until he cleared his throat to speak. "Well, you might not want to help me anymore if you find out." He said with evident sincerity in his eyes. He looked away and stared back into the night sky.
"It's fine, I can handle it." I said putting my hand on his shoulder as if to reassure him. He looked back at me, teary eyed. I looked into his eyes, searching aimlessly. Why could this be so important to him and why is it affecting him so much? I fiddled with the sleeve of my sweater as I waited for him to tell me.
"A group called 'Yellow' killed my family, the royal family." He said, my eyes widened in amazement. I was seated beside royalty but more importantly his family was killed. What could have been the cause of all this? I wondered. "And yes I am one of the princes of the spirit realm. But more importantly this group are vile sickos and they're taking over the spirit realm heeding havoc. It's not safe for anymore spirits to enter the spirit realm." He said his voice cracking slightly. He fidgeted slightly in his seat and all I could do was simply watch him fidget. This obviously was a heavy topic for him. I didn't know much words of comfort since I never received any.
"Then you lied to me, about still having all day when you have a world to save." I said looking at him with tender eyes. "You could have told me in the first place, we could have not wasted anytime."
"I know, I know." He said weakly. "I just didn't want you to feel pressured into helping me. I wanted to slow the pace down because I know this is still too much for you to handle." He said, his voice overflowing with concern, not only for the spirit realm's well being but for mine too. I starred at him and I felt a tingle down my spine as I thought, wow, this guy really does care. I've never felt more affection from another person than him. We barely knew each other. Heck! We don't know each other at all, but he cares. We remained silent for another few moments.
"What makes these guys so dangerous that even spirits are no longer safe in the spirit realm?" I asked. I felt him heave a sigh beside me.
"You know have you can't kill a spirit anymore?" He said and I nodded. "These suckers find a way to somehow, kill the already dead."
