Where the hell is she? I walked back and forward pausing to look out the window when I thought I saw a light. I can't cancel today I have a fundraiser to kick off my run for governor she knows how important this is to me. I turned around to see her walking through the front door with glasses on and a little black dress that showed too much of her body. I stared for a moment before I spoke. Where the hell have you been and what the hell are you wearing? She took her glasses off and just looked at me without speaking. She looked worn out like she had not slept. As I was about to speak my campaign manager Carlos came through the door. Carlos was a thin built man who always dressed to impress.
Carlos: Good morning Lamar why aren't you two ready we are due at the country club to meet potential donors at 11 for brunch and it's already 9 he said looking at his watch. Marcus Moran will be there and you definitely want his support. He took over his father's business and his net worth is in the high billions an endorsement from him could ensure your position as governor.
Crista: I paused to listen to Carlos before I walked out of the room I heard Lamar yell, " this is not over". Who cares I thought the night I just had I wasn't going to let anything especially Lamar ruin it. I stepped out of my black mini dress and realized that was all I had on I had left my under wear and bra behind. At the time I was not thinking I was just trying to escape the house before...I thought I don't even know his name. I shook the thought off turned on the shower and stepped in. The water felt heavenly upon my skin I could stay here forever but I knew it had to come to an end most good things do. As I got out of the shower I looked in the mirror at my body and I could see small marks all over my body, they were in places that clothes would conceal nothing to obvious. The thought of it made me smile it brought me back to last night and all the things this stranger made me feel. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
Carlos: Mrs Taylor I laid your dress on the bed, please hurry we are running behind.
Crista: Okay Carlos, thank you I said. I looked in the mirror and pulled my hair back in a bun. Applied a hellbent red lipstick and walked out of the bathroom into the bedroom. On the bed was a beautiful white dress with blue heels. I slipped into the dress and put my heels on and walked outside of the bedroom. Lamar was waiting in the living room with Carlos going over his notes.
Carlos noticed me as soon as I walked into the room. Oh Mrs. Taylor you look mag- nif-ico. Thank you Carlos. Lamar looked up from his cards and said its about time can we go now. I exited the house first and got into the town car. I looked out the window all the way to the county club. I could not get this man out of my head the way he explored my body the way he kissed me with such passion and wanting. I just replayed it over and over in my head the thought of never seeing him again creeped into my head and I didn't realized we had arrived let alone stopped. The door opened and I got out Lamar walked around to escort me in. Appearances he was real big at keeping them up. Making everyone on the outside think we had the perfect marriage and we were happy when that could not be further from the truth. Yes we had been married for 3 yrs but I think he only married me for status. My father was a prestigious judge who had favor in the community. He set his sights on me knowing that if he had me he would have all the connections from my father. We had a big ceremony and all the names of big people were there. Lamar loved it but that was all he loved his position and how much further he would go. We walked in and there it was a room full of potential donors, senators, lawyers, doctors, business men and somewhere in the crowd was this Marcus Moran that Lamar needed to meet and hit it off with. He started the conversation with you remember my wife Judge Thomas' daughter and everyone would respond the same oh yes your father was a great man. I was so over this I excused myself and went straight for the bar. I took a seat and ordered tequila shots...keep them coming please I said to the bartender, I had gotten to five and Lamar walked behind me and grabbed my arm what the hell are you doing he asked. What does it look like I said slurring my words. Making a fool of yourself. Making a fool of myself, making a feel of myself, you're the fool Lamar I don't even want to be here. There was anger in his eyes but I didn't care I was drunk but I didn't care about that either. He interrupted with thought with his questions again. Where were you last night Crista? Why? I asked you a question, he said gripping my arm tighter and I expect an answer. I jerked from his grip and ran toward the water. I wanted to cry I wanted to scream.
Marcus: I watched her from across the bar I could not believe it was her after last night I wanted to see her again but imagined when I woke up and she was gone the changes were slim. She was tossing them back quickly like she was trying to forget, I finally decided to approach her when Lamar Taylor walked up to her. He seemed angry my blood boiled when he grabbed her I felt something inside anger, jealousy I wanted to protect her, I was so lost in the thought I almost did not see her run off. I stayed out of sight from plain view but followed her.
Crista: I hate him, I hate him so much I said out loud. I was so consumed with anger I did not realize I wasn't along. I tried to wipe the tears that had begun to run down my eyes as he handed me a handkerchief. I was looking down as I said thank you.Your quite welcome. His voice sounded so familiar I looked up and it was him.The stranger that made me feel things I never thought I would feel the stranger that I thought I would never see again. I was speechless. I did not know what to say but he did. You ran out so fast this morning I thought I would never see you again,I didn't know your name or anything imagine my surprise when I saw you at the bar. I'm sorry I ran out but what happened last night I looked up and met his beautiful eyes and lost my thought. As I was about to say something Lamar walked up yelling my name Crista. The strangers eyes looked to Lamar than back to me without saying anything. We are not done ye..... Malcolm doesn't finish his statement but instead extends his hand to my stranger listen to me claiming him as mine.
