Lamar walked into his office with Marissa hot on his heels. What are you doing here Marissa? She walked closer and pulled his collar I came for you lover. He moved away from her grip. You should not have come Marissa, but I missed you Lamar and I wanted to see you. I looked at her for a moment and thought about what we once had the passion filled nights of hot steamy love making and responded, Marissa what we had is never going to happen again I'm married. You were married then too, she said. Things are different now I want my marriage to work  and you know I'm running for office, I am going to be more in the public's eye than ever before. She said, That's never going to happen Lamar.  He stopped pouring himself a glass of whiskey and said  well thanks for the vote of confidence but either way this thing we had is over and done with. No its not Lamar she said in a seductive tone. What we had can never be over it was too strong too passionate and I love you. Stop Marissa it was all of those things and maybe then it could have been something but you left without a goodbye or anything I mourned you and I will never do that again. Do you want to know why I left? There was a knock on the door. Come in he said. Marissa we need to go now,  Marcus said okay she said without turning around. Marcus looked to Lamar and said we can set up another meeting where my sister won't be present to cause any distraction. Lamar raised his glass in agreement. Marissa never took her eyes off Lamar and asked Do you Lamar want to know why? As if her brother was not even in the room. He looked at her for a minute studying her and said it doesn't matter. It will when I tell you. Marcus interrupted again saying Marissa now.

Marissa stared at Lamar for a moment as he starred off into the distance. I saw her come out of the study following Marcus, he met my eyes briefly before he exited through the front door. I looked toward the study for a brief moment and then went to my room I was so angry to say the least but I just wanted this moment this entire evening to be over with. .

When we reached the car I spoke What was that about Marissa? None of your damn business. Really, did father even send you. It doesn't matter Marcus. Like hell it doesn't I'm trying to conduct business and you show up out of the blue saying father sent you, I guess I was stupid and naïve for not questioning you. I know something is going on with you and him it's obvious. She turns around with tear filled eyes. I loved him so much Marcus you don't understand you couldn't understand because you have never loved anyone. I was shocked by her response how could she or better question when did all of this happen. Don't look so shocked, she said. His thoughts instantly drift to his niece and he could not help but ask. Lexi I said in a question she is his. She looked away without confirming what I already knew to be true. Does he know, I asked. No, she said loudly, I almost told him but then he started talking about his wife and how he wanted to make it a real marriage and then you came in. I don't know what to say. There is nothing to say but before I leave I will tell him. Do you think that it's a good idea right now with ever thing that's going on. It's been three years Marissa how do you think he is going to feel do you think he is just going to come running back to you, and he is running for governor what do you think will happen. She looked at me and then spoke he deserves to know. Just think before you act please. I opened the car door to get in and Marissa followed suit before I could start the car my phone went off. I opened the text "can you meet me"? I took a deep breathe and thought Sara has not crossed my mind in days and here she was texting me asking to meet. I responded "where". It was a few moments before she responded "yacht in an hour". Okay I texted back. I put my phone down and started the car. Who was that, Marissa asked? Doesn't matter, I need to drop you off I have to make a quick run. Sounds like a quick booty call. I looked at Marissa but didn't respond. Days ago I would have been excited to hear from Sara knowing what was going to happen, but something had changed Crista she had changed everything.
