Rose walked out to see Sorey waiting for her with a big goofy smile on his face. The sun was just above them, she guessed it was about noon.
"You really are excited to go to, huh?"
"What do you mean? Of course I'm excited!"
"Well we better get going it's a good walk to the circus and let's allow time for if we get lost." They started walking.
"We won't get lost."
"Oh yeah? The last time you and I went somewhere we didn't know we ended up having to stay at an inn in a town in the complete opposite direction then the town we were supposed to be in!"
"Oh yeah, I remember that."
"Good, then you know why we have to be careful."•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
They passed the outdoor market and Alisha's bakery on their way to the circus. When they finally got there Sorey couldn't help but stand in awe. It was a giant big-top tent, blue and white, lights and signs, you could smell the popcorn and cotton candy, and could hear the starting music begin to play.
"We have to hurry! It's starting soon." Rose and Sorey ran toward the entrance, handed their tickets to the employee, got there seats, and waited for the show to start.
"I wonder what the first act is."
"Don't know. Oh wait, shut up it's starting!"
"Shutting up now."
Sorey and Rose turned their attention to the main stage that filled with smoke then it cleared and an old short man had appeared. Everyone cheered for him, he held up his hands to silence them.
"Welcome everyone,"
"For such a little guy he sure has a loud voice,"
"to the Elysia circus!" He raised his hands, trapezeist, lion tamers, and clowns all appeared behind the little man or the grand show master as Sorey had figured out. Everyone erupted into cheers, shouts, and claps. Then everything went dark.
The lights came back on in a second to reveal just the lion tamers. Sorey was already pulled in.
"This is amazing."
Next came the fire eaters, then the heavyweight lifters, and then the clowns. After that the ringmaster appeared again. Each act was amazing and special in its own way.
"I know you have all been waiting patiently for are last act of the night!" People really got fired up and excited this time. "But! You all need to call them out! Call loud enough and they will come and amaze you like never before!"
"Umm, Rose who are the 'they' he keeps referring to?"
"I have no idea, but we have to call along with everyone else, so whatever they start calling we call. Got it?"
Sorey gave her a nod. Right after people began chanting 'Elysia Angels'. Sorey and Rose chanted along to until a kid shouted 'there they are!' And pointed to the very top of the tent. And he was right.
People came cascading down on silk ropes holding on to giant medal rings and on swings holding on to each other. Everyone went nuts. They started to sway back forth till they got momentum.
Sorey finally understood why everyone loved them and called them angels. They were breath taking. Soon they were flipping and flying thought the air on swings and silks. It was mesmerizing.
One of the ones on a silk was now coming towards were Sorey was sitting. He came strait towards him, close enough that he could see every feature of the person. They were only there for a few seconds before they went flying back. But for Sorey it was like that moment lasted forever. Because he recognized the person on that silk.
After that the trapezeist finished, the event was over. The ringmaster biding them all farewell then disappearing himself.
They stopped when they got outside, the sun was just setting.
"Sorey! Did you have fun?"
She had snapped him out of his trance.
"Huh? Can you repeat that?"
"I said did you have fun? And what's up with you, ever since that trapezeist came up to us in the stands you have been out of it. Don't tell me he scared you."
"No! He didn't, I was just amazed that's all!" Rose shrugged her shoulders even though he was clearly nervous she decided not to press any farther.
"Well let's head to Alisha's place." She and Sorey headed down town to the bakery. When they got there Alisha was packing some sweets and food up.
"Hey what you doin?"
"Packing up some stuff to take to the circus."
"Oh yeah! By the way that was really fun!"
"Well I'm glad you guys had fun."
Alisha started toward the circus while Rose headed towards home but Sorey ran to catch up with Alisha.
"Hey Alisha! Wait up!"
"Huh? What is it Sorey?"
"Umm, well, can I go to the circus with you?"
" Oh! Yeah! Just follow me!"
Sorey followed Alisha and ending up carrying the boxes of sweets and food. They finally made it back to the circus. Alisha knocked before opening the curtain.
"Gramps? You in here?"
"Yes dear, come in." Sorey and Alisha walked in, Sorey placed the food on some tables and went to greet the person that Alisha kept calling gramps. He realized this was the ringmaster.
"Alisha is this your grandfather?"
"Ah? Oh no, everyone here just kinda calls him gramps."
"Oh, well, nice to meet you gramps!" Sorey had one of his could put someone into cardiac arrest smiles on.
"It's nice to meet you too young one. Oh Alisha dear can you call everyone out to get food?"
"Sure!" Alisha took in a big breath then yelled, "Food! Come and get it!" A bunch of people came up to tables Sorey had put the food on, chatting amongst themselves.
"What do you all say to Alisha and her helper?"
"Thank you for the food!" They all said in unison. Sorey was trying to find the trapezeist from earlier, but no such luck. Maybe he already left? While Alisha was helping everyone get food and settling them down, Sorey went up to Gramps office's door.
He knocked, "Can I come in?"
"Yes of course. Do you need something?"
"Yes! Actually! I have a few questions for you."
"Well take a seat and fire away." He took a seat, Alisha always said fire away too, maybe she got it from him.•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
