The day two boys most feared.

The last day of camp.

Will and Mike didn't sleep.

They just laid entangled in each others arms, crying silently the whole night before.
-
The next morning came...
"I'm gonna miss you so much." Will whispered, sniffling.
"We both live in Hawkins... we can't be too far away." Mike laughed dryly, clearly sad. "I just-I-" Will grabbed his diary, inhaling sharply. He hands it to Mike.
"What are you doing Will?" Mike asked.
"I want you to have it... a piece of me... in case we can't see each other."

Mike hugged Will tightly.
"Thank you." He mumbled. Will buried his head into Mike's chest, listening to the heartbeat.

"I'm happy you..." Will paused.
"Happy I What?"
"Happy you read my diary. I'm happy we met. I'm happy I even came here." Will pulled back and pressed his lips briefly to Mike's.

A counselor came in.

"Your mother is here William!"

Will nodded, adjusting the bag on his back. "I'll be there in a minute!"

Will hugged Mike tighter. "Walk me out?" Mike nods and exits. Dustin and Lucas were with Max and El saying their goodbyes.

Will walked over and hugged Dustin and Lucas. "You guys made my summer amazing. I'll never forget you."

Then he moved to hug Max and El. "I won't forget you either. You guys made my summer romantic and helped me so much."
He turned to Mike again.

He kissed him though, multiple people gasp as Mike kissed back. "And you made true memories and made me feel like I was weightless. I love you Mike."

Mike was taken back by the words. He hugged Will again, his diary in Mike's hands still.

"I love you too Will."

And with that, Will Byers started walking away, turning back to wave. He meets eyes with Mike, who's smiling.

Man, this summer is definitely one he'll tell Jonathan all about.
