The next morning Liam was woken up by someone shaking his cot causing him to fall on the floor.
"Time to get up, Newbie." Said the boy, he had a buzz cut and soft brown eyes that made him look very trusting.
"Why so early?" Liam stated through a yawn.
"This isn't early it's almost seven, but you need to get up take a shower and get into some decent clothes. Be in the main hall in an hour that's where the selection begins." Liam immediately shot up and began looking for his nice clothes, he had forgotten about the selection.
"Why are you in such a rush? You have an hour."
"The selection is today."
"I am aware, but as I'm sure Scott told you Theo normally has his servant already picked out before hand, so he has no clue who you are. Scott will most likely be the chosen one anyway. Everyone has already figured that much out."
"I know, but Prince Theo nor King Peter have ever seen me I want to make a good first impression."
"Smart choice. Now go take a shower." Liam gave Mason a look asking him where the showers were. "Down the hall last door on your left." Liam began heading to the showers as he heard Mason mumble something about Scott only being good as a personal servant.
Once Liam entered the shower room he was alone. He slowly began to undress as he made his way to the shower. He let the water run over him as if he was attempting to wash away the fear from today's selection. If not for himself, for Scott, or even Mason. Liam grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist, so he could go back to his room to change.
Liam entered his chambers only to notice that Mason was gone. He must've already gone to the main hall Liam concluded. He looked at the time to notice that he had 30 minutes left, and he definitely wanted to be early so that he could get some pointers from Scott, or someone.
He hurriedly put on a nice deep blue shirt that made his eyes pop, and some simple pants. Nothing to draw attention to himself he looked nice like Mason had instructed. He then brushed his hair and let it naturally fall over his face: his hair was short enough that it didn't cover his eyes, so he could look the royals in the eye like he was instructed. Once he finished with his hair he noticed that he only had 10 minutes left to get to the main hall which was at least a five minute walk.
Liam left the slave quarters and got to the main hall with 4 minutes to spare, though everyone was already in the selection line so that Theo could see everyone and everyone could see Theo. The line reached from one end of the hall almost to the other end. Liam became calm once again knowing that Theo had so many options he was not likely to get picked.
Liam frantically looked around the hallway for Scott, or Mason. He noticed that they were already in line engaged in a friendly conversation. Liam noticed a smaller boy at the end of the line that looked kind, so he walked over to him hoping he could ask someone for help.
"Uh, hi I'm new and I have no clue what to do can you help me please?" Liam mentally face palmed himself due to his bluntness.
"Ya sure. I'm Corey, and you are?"
"Liam."
"Oh ya your the new kid rooming with Mason right?"
"Ya I am. He seems nice."
"He is. So, what did you need help with?"
"Just curious about where to stand and such, and what to do when Prince Theo comes up to me."
"Well, you'll figure out what to do from watching the others. But, to get ready just get in line and then when Theo comes up to you just step forward. Remember to look him in the eye and only speak when spoken to. And if he asks you a question you refer to him as Prince Theo, sir, or your majesty. Just like normal. Wait who gave you the tour of the castle on your first day they should've told you this."
