Opening her eyes, Kathy realizes her alarm is going off. She hits the button to turn it off and sits up on the side of her bed. Realizing it was just a dream she heads towards the bathroom. As she is waiting for the shower to heat up she undresses. Stepping into the warm water she baths thinking of her schedule for the day.
When she gets out she wraps her hair in a towel. Wrapping a second towel around her she walks over to the sink to brush her teeth. Afterwards she grabs her brush and hair dryer. She puts her hair up in a lose bun with strands dangling on the sides. Walking back into her room she pulls out a nice pair of black tight fitting jeans. She pulls on a long sleeve grey shirt with a nice pink and white scarf. She digs through her closet to find grey knee high boots.
As she's finishing getting ready for work her phone goes off. She picks it up and a smiling Laura is on the screen. Swiping the green button she says, "hey Laura. What's up?"
"Where are you? I thought we were meeting up for breakfast," asks Laura.
Looking at the clock Kathy says, "Oh my goodness, I didn't realize I took that long in the shower. I'm sorry. How about lunch?"
"Fine, but you are paying," she replies.
Laughing, "OK, I will see you at lunch. The cafe sound good to you?"
"Yeah," she says, "OK bye."
"See you later," replies Kathy.
Hanging up the phone she grabs her purple coat. As she is leaving her apartment she bumps into someone and her gut does flips. She glances over her shoulder and says 'sorry, excuse me' and leaves. Running from the building she thinks of the man she just bumped into. She didn't get a good look at him. Something about him seemed familiar to her, but she couldn't figure out where she had seen him before. Getting into her Ford Escape, she heads to work.
When she arrives to work there is a big commotion. She takes her stuff to her office then heads to her boss' office. She has her hair pulled back in a tight bun with chopsticks holding it in place. Glasses sliding down her nose, she pushes them back up. She grabs another stack of papers trying to go through paperwork.
"Good Morning Ms. Whitney. What is with all the commotion this morning?" Kathy asks walking up to the desk that is cluttered already.
"Oh, thank god you are here. We just got a call from a big company the next town over. They want us to do a catering job for their boss' daughter's wedding," she says, "The wedding is in 2 days. Their caterer had to cancel because of a personal family matter. So they called us."
"OK, so what do you need me to do?" asks Kathy.
Her boss stops and looks up at her, "I need you to take care of this one for me. They sent all the paper work over, so all we have to do is make sure that the place is ready for Saturday at three o'clock."
'I can't believe I finally get to be lead for this one' Kathy thinks while she is reading over the paperwork. Hearing a door slam she looks up. Looking over at the clock "Oh, lunch time," she says. Stacking the papers in a neat stack, she places them in the manila folder marked Richardson Wedding. Grabbing her coat and bag she heads to the Cafe up the street.
Pulling up to the cafe Kathy scans the cars. She doesn't see Laurens car yet. Heading inside she grabs the table they always sit at. Sitting there waiting for her friends she got a tingling sensation in her gut. She couldn't figure out why. She tried to ignore it, but it didn't stop. The feeling started getting stronger and she was getting worried. The hair on the nape of her neck stood up. Then she heard someone walk up to her. Looking up she freezes.
"Are these seats taken?" asks a deep voice.
