Waking up the next morning to the sound of her alarm, Kathy rushed to get a shower. While getting the water ready she starts thinking of what happened last night. She absent mindedly rubbed her lips. The feel of the water getting to hot brought her out of her thoughts. She climbs in and gets a quick shower. While washing her hair her mind wanders to last night again.
As soon as they got to her door Nate had kissed her. It was not one of those forced sloppy ones either. It had been sweet and tender. He put his hand against her cheek and slowly leaned in and kissed her. She felt warm all over.
Coming back to the present she realized she needed to hurry up. Turning off the water she got out the shower to finish getting ready. She tied her hair up in a tight bun with her bangs dangling at the sides. She slipped into her tan pants and long sleeve black off the shoulder shirt with chain and black flats. She put her matching earrings and bracelet on. After putting on her black scarf she grabbed her tan coat and purse and headed for the door.
It was round two o'clock as Kathy was finishing setting up for the wedding. She hears someone walking down the hallway and enter the room. Turning to see who it is she stops in her tracks. Several emotions crossing her mind. All she could do was stare at the man that had just walked in. Watching as he looks around she walks over to him, "Please tell me you are not the groom."
Hearing her voice he whirled around, "Kathy! Well of course not. I'm not that kind of man. I'm actually the best man. It's my best friend's wedding."
Letting out a sigh of relief she asks, "So what can I help you with?"
"Well I mainly wanted to get here early to make sure everything is ready for the happy couple," he says with a grin.
"Oh, well I was actually just finishing up with decorating," she returns relieved, "so what do you think?"
Looking around he says, "I think they are going to love it."
As the reception was coming to a close she kept looking over at Nate. He was laughing with the groom and sneaking glances at her. She had been so relieved when he had told her he was the best man.
Shaking her head she began going around to her staff. She had to let them know what they needed to do as the wedding was coming to an end. They had a lot to do before heading home.
Sighing with relief, she heads toward her car. It had been a successful wedding. She was sure her boss would be proud to hear. Now all she could think of was getting home and taking a nice long hot bath and drinking a glass or two of wine.
The next morning she woke to the sound of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5. Groaning she rolled over trying to reach her phone.
"Hello," she says groggily.
"Well good morning," Mrs. Whitney says, "so I heard the wedding went good. I'm proud. When you come in Monday morning we have a lot to talk about."
With that she hangs up. Kathy looks at her phone for a moment then just puts it back on the bed side table. She lays there thinking of the night before. It had been a success and her boss was proud. She hopes this helps her get the promotion she has been working so hard to get.
