Dinner Invite

When Lauren walks up she sees that her husband is in complete shock and her best friend has a slight blush to add with her smile, "so what did I just miss?"

Clearing his throat, James looks at his wife, "well, it seems our dear Kathy here was just flirting with a man."

Lauren's mouth opens like she can't believe what she is hearing. Looking over to Kathy she asks, "Excuse me, but um... What is he talking about?"

Kathy starts blushing more, looking down at her cup of coffee she says," there is nothing to tell. It was just a kind man that needed somewhere to sit. Plus, it was nice to have someone to talk to while I waited for you two slow pokes."

Seeing that Kathy is blushing Lauren laughs, "so there is no need for me to introduce you to a nice guy that is working with James?'

"Um.... No I would really appreciate if you didn't," Kathy says looking up at her best friend, "and since you both took so long I don't have much time until I have to get back to work."

As Lauren sits down they start talking and enjoying lunch. Lauren stars talking about something that happened at work while James keeps glancing at Kathy with a grin on his face. Looking away from him she thinks 'I should have known I couldn't get anything past him'. As she finishes eating her phone starts to ring. Thinking it is from her boss she opens her phone to see what her boss wanted. When she looks at the number she realizes she doesn't know who it is. When she opens the message she starts smiling.

'Hey it's Nate." The message says.

Smiling she sends 'Hey. I didn't expect you to text this soon.'

Before she could put her phone away it goes off again 'I just wanted to make sure I put your number in correctly.'

'Oh okay then. Well it was nice to meet you today.' She replies.

'It was a pleasure meeting you as well. And I kind of wanted to ask you something.' He sent back quickly.

Tapping away at her she sends back, 'okay, what is it?'

Seeing the three dots that indicate he is typing she waits. In just a few seconds she received another message that said, "I um, was wondering if you would have dinner with me tomorrow night?'

Surprised he is asking her out she just stares at her phone. Finally she sends back, 'that would be great!'

'Great, so um I will text you later about the details of where we will be going,' she reads with a smile.

Texting him back quickly she says, 'okay, I will be waiting to hear from you.'

'Okay bye for now,' the last message reads.

'Okay, bye,' she sends with a huge grin on her face. Looking up at her friends she realizes they are starring at her.

"Um, what is it," she asks.

Lauren grins widely with a look that says uh huh, "oh nothing. I'm guessing it was that man from earlier."

Blushing Kathy says, "Well guy's lunch was great, but I um... I need to get back to work." She stands up and grabs her bag. Going to the register she orders a coffee for her boss. When she gets the coffee she waves to her friends and heads back to work.
