(Kathy's pov)

After I left the café I got a text from Lauren. When I got in my car I read that she expects me to have lunch with her tomorrow. She wants to know about the mystery man. And why I was smiling looking at me phone. I send her a message that says see you at lunch tomorrow. I put my phone away and head back to the office.

All throughout the morning all I could think of was Nate. After I had gotten home last night I got a text from him. We talked for a few hours before I had to go to bed. I learned a little about him. I had checked my phone all afternoon waiting for his text. I had never been like that with anyone. Sitting at my desk I hear my phone ring. Picking it up I see a text from Lauren that said 'hey don't forget about lunch today. I will be waiting for you.' Looking over at the clock I realize I had an hour before lunch. I set an alarm on my phone to remind me. I got back to work finalizing some plans for the wedding that Saturday.

My phone chimes to let me know it's time to leave. I stack my papers neatly on my desk and grab my bag. I head out the door and stop in to see my boss. I walk in and see that she is on the phone. I get her attention and mouth if she wants me to bring anything back for her. She smiles and writes something on a piece of paper. I read it to see that she what she wants me to bring her back for lunch. Smiling at her I nod my head and leave for lunch.

Walking into my favorite café I see Lauren sitting at the corner booth. I stop at the counter and order my food. After paying for it I walk over to join my best friend.

"Well, look at you. You were early," I laugh as I sit down.

Looking up at me she smiles, "I told you I would be waiting for you. So what is his name?"

I stop from putting a bite of my salad in my mouth, "his name is Nate. And could I at least get a few bites in before you start interrogating me?"

"Ugh, fine. But I want to know everything," she says grumbling as she shoves a French fry in her mouth.

I envy her some times. I mean I have no issue with the way I look. But her, she can eat anything and not gain an ounce. Me, on the other hand, if I eat a burger and fries like she does I would be in need of new clothes. I shake my head and finish eating.

"Okay, so what do you want to know," I ask her.

"What does he look like? Is he cute? What does his voice sound like," she starts asking quickly.

Laughing I tell her, "Slow down okay. First of all, he is handsome. He has deep clear blue eyes, which I could get lost in, have thick black lashes. His black hair is cut short, maybe and inch long. He is a few inches taller than James. His voice was like music to my ears. It was deep and husky."

Lauren is smiling as she says, "oh wow, he sounds gorgeous. So what where you both texting about yesterday?"

"Well, um... He asked me to dinner tonight," I tell her.

"Oh my god, are you serious? That is awesome. It is about time you moved on," she says.

Looking down at my now empty plate, I think of a few years ago. I had been happy, engaged and ready to settle down. What I wasn't ready for though, was walking in on my fiancé and my old roommate. I dumped him right then, and moved out of my apartment. It took me an entire year to get over it. I shake the thoughts from then out of my head. Looking up at Lauren I see concern in her eyes.

"I'm fine," I tell her, "it was years ago. I'm better now. And I agree. It is time for me to get back out there."

We talked for a few more minutes before I got up to leave. I stopped at the counter to get my boss what she wanted. I paid for the food and left. My head was in a fog the rest of the day. I don't even remember getting back to the office.
