I don't know how long we laid there with its head on my stomach. It could have been an hour or a few minutes. Yelling broke our trace, the green dragon snapped its head in the direction of the yell. The dragon snapping its teeth at my elder brother as he stood a foot away, his weapon at the ready.
Before the dragon could attack I threw out one arm to halt his advance, "Vex, stop! I am alright. This dragon saved my life."
He almost dropped his bow from the shock as his mouth flopped open, "A dragon? Saved you from an attack?" I don't blame him for being dumbfounded. I wouldn't have believe it either if it didn't personally happen to me. "Okay, well it's time to go. Get that thing off from you and let's get out of here."
I don't know what it was but I felt personally assaulted when Vex called the dragon a thing. "The dragon is not a thing, Vex! Sage has feelings too!" I scolded my brother. The dragon purring as it set its head back down in my stomach.
My brother's face turned ghostly white, "Did you just name a dragon?" His whisper barely reaching to where I lay.
Hesitating I realized I did in fact unconsciously name the dragon. "Well yeah, it needs a name. Why?"
He pinched the bridge of his nose with a free hand, "You can't name it otherwise you get attached to it. You can't get attached to a dragon! Now get rid of it and let it go back to where it came from!" Vex ended with a growl.
Sighing I pushed Sage's head off my stomach, climbing to my feet. "You don't think I did? Sage just followed me down the mountain." Shaking my head. Sage rubbed their head along my back nearly making me tumble forward.
"Hey, so we heading home or what? And why is there a dragon?" Carter called out coolly where he sat on his horse with Jaxon a pace away. Apparently they turned back for us when we told them not to.
Vex clearly read my mind when he yelled at our brothers, "WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE!!! Do you know how dangerous that could have been? We told you to keep going and not turn back!"
Carter seemed unconcerned as he simply shrugged his shoulders, "Whatever. So are we going or what?" Gesturing to the exit with his head.
Vex glared in my direction as if to say we weren't done with our conversation but didn't resume it at that moment, "Yeah we are. We better get going before Mama stresses out. Now that the dragon attack has pretty much dissolved." Glancing up, turned out Vex was correct, there weren't any more dragons flying about.
Patting Sage once more on the nose I climb onto my saddle, Jaxon sitting behind we wrapped his arms around my waist. This time when we left Sage walked along side my horse. "So are we not going to talk about the dragon that has glued itself to Indrasena's side?" Jaxon spoke up from behind me.
Sighing I explain to them how I had saved Sage a few years ago, and what happened while out on the trail.
"So you have a dragon! That is neat, I want one!" Jaxon twittered from behind me.
Vex turned his glare on Jax, "It's not her dragon. Indrasena is not keeping it." He stated firmly.
Rolling my eyes at Vex, "Whatever Papa." Sarcastically replying. "Besides why don't you take that up with Sage." At their new name they flashed their teeth at Vex, who paled at the sharpness.
"Do you even know if it's a boy or a girl?" Carter interrupted anything Vex was about to retort. Shaking my head no caused him to sigh at I am guessing my stupidity. "How could you name a dragon without knowing their gender?"
