"Why? He already reported to me earlier. I'm pretty sure it was at the request of the Matriarch." Plus he should be bonding with Parker right now, if he accepted the responsibility of being a draegon-human pair that is.

"Since he just found Parker, and judging by your memories of the event he was fully distracted. He probably didn't tell you the full details that he should have. But now that Parker is with him he shouldn't be as distracted."

Not wanting to get on her bad side I kept quiet for the rest of the flight. We landed sometime later further in the mountains, hidden away from view. Parker coming out to greet us with an ecstatic grin. Dion following behind slowly, not fully trusting us with his Rider. His instincts hyped up to a new level from the newly found connection.

Slapping our hands together in a greeting I give him an I told you so grin, "So big brother, how does it feel to be a Rider." Using my other hand to slap him on the back as congratulations. Dion not liking that growled, eyeing my hands specifically. Sage taking that as a challenge growled louder, eyeing Dion as she stepped closer to my body.

Parker, attentive to the male draegon half turned, holding up a hand to silence the growls. "It is alright, Dion. My sister isn't harming me. In fact I trust her with my life. And you should too." His face serious as he spoke to the draegon.

This was confusing as it took at least a few days in order to learn the draegon's name through the bond. "How do you know that name?" My eyebrows raising.

Dion rolled his eyes at the same time. Speaking through the connection that hadn't been fully established yet, "Why should I trust her? I don't know her as I know you. Trust isn't freely given. It is.."

His furrowed as he turned his attention back to me, "That is his name isn't it? Dion? I felt it through the connection you spoke so much about."

"Earned." Peaking over my brother's shoulder and stunning Dion into silence. "Yes Parker, the Matriarch introduced him to me as Dion. I just wasn't expecting your bond to progress so quickly. And Dion, I know you won't trust me so easily but I am willing to work on a mutual trust between us. You may be a potential bond-mate with my big brother but I don't fully trust you either. So how about we both work on building trust between us." Trying to compromise by a clearly socially awkward draegon that only knew life in the field of spying.

Dion fully stopping his growling regarding me with cold stormy silver eyes. A foreign entity making contact with the barrier of my mind, its touch cold, callus and rough. But I knew it came from Dion. Wanting to peak into my thoughts to know if my word was true.

Glancing at Sage from the corner of my eye to get her opinion on the situation. Keeping silent she nodded, thinking I should do it and let my barriers down. Taking a breath I imagine a door popping up along the wall and only opening so wide to let Dion slip through.

His mental presence halted, taken aback about my invitation to snoop within my mind freely. Taking the open invitation he gently slipped past the door.

Now that a brief connection was formed his mental presence felt like icy rain during a thundering storm in the winter.

We maintained eye contact as he shifted through my thoughts. Pausing on certain memories, especially of those involving Parker and Vex. Not showing fear to what he might find.

Sage grew more protective the longer Dion melded our minds together. She growled in warning letting him know that if he didn't disconnect our minds she would do it by force. A move that could prove to be harmful to both him and me. He lingered for a moment longer before pulling back his mental connection. Drawing back into himself.
