Crushed (2) 🌻 Meeting the Moron
It was already a few days after my friends and I had our outing in Hanalily Gardens. I entered the classroom and sat on my seat in front. Lunch had just ended and it was time for our English class.
In this class, I sat near Heidi. We talked about things that interest us until my English teacher, Ms. Melina, came in carrying a couple of books.
"Good afternoon, class," she greeted.
The whole class stood up. "Good afternoon, Ms. Melina."
"Okay, class, have a seat." She told us. "Today, we are going to do something quite different. We are going to have an activity that is going to be done in pairs."
I grunted to myself. Why a pair activity? I was sure I would end up being with someone who I never talked to before.
Ms. Melina started calling out names to be paired with. She picked pieces of paper in a can and each paper contained a name of a student in the class.
I was nervous to know who my partner for this activity is going to be. To be honest, I don't know much about most people in my class, even though I have been with them for two months already. Talking to new people is quite hard for me.
"Ms. Manuel!"
I looked at Ms. Melina. "Y-yes, ma'am?"
She unfolded a piece of paper. "You're going to be paired with Mr. Caberra."
For some reason, my mind just went blank.
. . . Mr. Who?
"Have you heard me correctly, Ms. Manuel?" my teacher asked me.
"Y-yes, ma'am." I lied. I wasn't sure what she had just said.
I was right about being paired with someone who I barely knew. Argh.
After the calling of the last pair, Ms. Melina stood up from her seat and grabbed a whiteboard marker from her bag.
"All of you are already grouped with someone, am I right? For this activity, each pair is going to write an essay about the importance of punctuation marks in our daily lives. The minimum amount of sentences in your essay is 25."
Omigosh... twenty-five is the minimum? I'm so glad this is a pair activity after all.
"Now, please sit with your partners for this activity!" Ms. Melina continued. "All of you have the remaining 45 minutes to complete your essay."
I stood and walked around the classroom to find Mr. Caberra (or whoever he is). All of the boys in my class were already with their partners except for one. . .
He was just sitting in one corner, fidgeting with his pencil. He was wearing a dark gray jacket and didn't even bother standing up to find the person he was grouped with or something.
I walked up to him and asked. "Ummm, sorry to bother you, but are you Mr. Caberra?"
"Yes," he simply answered and brought out a whole pad of paper.
I pulled out the nearest chair from him and placed it beside his seat. As I sat down, I noticed something vaguely familiar about this guy.
"Hey!" He cried. "Aren't you that girl that threw a pebble on my shoulder a few days ago?"
