Crushed (6) 🌻 Flinging a Mountain

"Lilian!"

I looked to my left where the voice came from. Heidi was waving hysterically at me to join them at their table by the window. I approached them, keeping an eye on my tray.

"'Sup, guys." I greeted them.

"Hey, Lilian." Sheila smiled at me.

At the corner of my eye, I saw Alana drinking a cup of iced tea in the opposite bench. She lazily moved her head to meet my gaze, obviously not in a good mood. I put my tray on the table as I sat beside Sheila. The table was pretty big----good for eight people.

My brown eyes darted between my friends before I took a seat. Why were they suddenly so quiet?

I cleared my throat. "So. . . How's it going?"

"Horrible." Alana grumbled.

I suppressed a frown. Alana's been acting really weird since yesterday, but at least now we can find out what really happened.

"Alana," I breathed heavily. "Is there something. . . wrong?"

"What do you think?" She snapped.

"I'm sorry, Alana." I winced. "Its just... we weren't there when it happened."

She rolled her eyes. "Well, you would've if you didn't plan to leave me yesterday."

"Say what?" Heidi quipped.

I was confused as well. "It was an accident," I reassured her. "And besides, we didn't leave you yesterday. We even looked for you before we left."

After a short silence, Alana answered, turning to her left. "She hates me again."

"How?" I asked. "By talking to Kenneth again?"

"Duh!" Alana exclaimed. "She has been doing that for the past few weeks."

"You can't just say things like that, Alana," I told her. "What's Athena doing anyway?"

Alana threw me a harsh look, and I sheepishly shrunk back. How stupid of me to say that out loud.

"Athena? She seems nice to me," Heidi quipped, looking up in thought.

"Of course she is to you." Alana rolled her eyes.

"Spill it!" Heidi urged her.

"Alright, alright!" Alana sighed. "It is just for the past few days, I have noticed that Kenneth and Athena are talking to each other more and more everyday."

I slowly nodded my head. "And?"

"Whenever she notices that I'm around, she keeps looking at me like she wants me to leave or something." Alana took a sip from her cup and sighed.

I shook my head. I didn't know what to say.

"Don't worry, Alana!" Heidi said as she patted Alana's back. "Who knows? Maybe it is not because she wants you to leave or something."
