"It can't be..." I place my hand over my mouth , resisting not to cry. The words were clear and written ,
VICTIM : ODETTE ASTNAR ,
MURDERER : DUNCAN CHANCELLOR.
DATE AND TIME : 1999 JULY 6TH
PLACE : 11 STREET , PUBLIC MARKET.
NOTE : MURDERER DUNCAN CHANCELLOR COMMITTED SELF SUICIDE AFTER MURDERING VICTIM ODETTE ASTNAR. THEREFORE , CASE CLOSED.
It was a murder case , I knew it , mother wouldn't kill herself. I knew it... The public market ? Isn't that where I went to this morning with Katelyn ? Maybe Katelyn did know some things about this.
Now what ?
Nate slightly frowned , "Great now you know , let's get you home to where you belong." He goes for the door but I wouldn't budge , I wanted to know who wrote this.
"Wait , " I told Nate. He stopped walking , he had only opened half the door , the shop owner looked at me :" What's the matter girl ?"
"Who wrote this ?" I asked.
"I bought it from some one , I can't tell you who she is." The shop owner said quickly short after I asked.
I thought , she ?
I need time to think , maybe going to the public market can tell me more , why this Duncan would murder my mother , why would it be held in a public market.
"You're not thinking going more deeper than what you've already gone are you ?" Nate sighed.
"She's my mother , she died outside our country without certain proper news. And I'm her only hope to..." I was poor on words.
"To what ?" Nate asked.
"I... I just know I just want to discover more." I stammered.
"You're just a helpless girl who traveled half way the world to get here to bother people about your ass mother ," Nate studied her expression changing as fast as a flip of a page from the book. "But you're not alone." Nate smiled devilishly.
My heart raced again , I hit him on his chest with a slight angry face but I was smiling irresistibly , this time he had only grinned with pain , he didn't complain my casual behaviour , as that is my natural habit.
"Do whatever you want children , just don't get me involved in this twisted world." The shop owner chastised.
"We won't , glad doing business with you , we're leaving and enjoy your metal pin." Nate finished as he left the shop , I tailed at his back like an obedient canine.
I felt relieved , but I am still going to the public market , no matter what or who that gets in the way.
"Hey , why did you give him my butterfly pin ?" I asked as we were leaving the shop ,walking down the cold , empty , lonely street.
"He has a weird obssesion for metal made things. He sells information by making the price like that." Nate said.
"Can we head to the public market now ?" I asked.
"Why now ?" Nate asked.
"I want to find clues." I smiled.
"You think this is fun ?" Nate grinned.
"Well , it's exciting. Also the main point , I love my mother and I want to know more about her." I said.
"When was the last time you parted with your mother ?" Nate asked.
"Ten years ago." I replied.
Nate wasn't surprised , a girl traveling to this kind of place for a stupid reason like that is legal and acceptable.
"You can go tomorrow." Nate spoke.
"Alone or with you ?" I asked silently , barely listenable.
"Neither." He said.
I froze , "why ?"
"You're going with Katelyn. It's her turn to baby sit you." Nate entered the house , it was getting late in the sky , the sun was setting down by now. He let the door stay open until I got in , at least he has manners in the tiniest bit.
"Fine." I crossed my arms as I drool , finding a scent of aroma , delicious dishes on the dining table were prepared neatly , cloth and fork and spoon and plate. Not to forget the main course , food.
"Kate you overdone it again." Nate said as he walked past the dining table without hesitation and sat on the living room sofa , he turned on the TV to his fond channel.
Katelyn giggled from the kitchen inside , she said :" it's not bad for a feast once in a while , we have a guest to serve , Alice ?"
I heard her call my name , I quickly replied :" yeah ?"
"Can you come over here and help me with this soup ?" Katelyn asked.
"Sure , what's wrong with the soup ?" I asked with a chuckle.
"The soup needs tasting to see if I need to add severe more salt or not." Katelyn held the spoon up , she blew it until it was just warm , she tilt the spoon full of soup in front of my face.
