Nate was getting utterly impatient , it was turning 3 in the afternoon and there was still no improvement in her even after all that they have done. At least she has known how to use a simple sword , but again , if the relic wasn't a sword , she'd be toasted on the battle field.
"Your arms have to stay firm and strong , don't slump or slouch." Nate demanded me , I let him order me around , I don't usually let any one boss me like that , but for this one time , it's worth the shot.
"Yeah yeah..." I tilt the stone sword in hand as firm as I could , my grip was hardening , my ears were only listening and obeying.
"That's it , you're completely hopeless. Nate gave up by raising both his arms in mid air , he looks like he's surrendering. I was mad , how can a tutor give up on his student ?
"Take me to the relic shop." I eyed him.
"You're not ready for it." Nate chastised.
"I am , I believe I am." I said.
"If believing was affective , no one would lose their lives here..." Nate looked at me , I shrugged my shoulders , he squeezed my shoulder with his warm hands , he went pass me and walked into the house , going for the door towards outside.
"Where are you going ?" I asked as I followed him at his back. He was not answering me until I repeated.
"To get you a relic." Nate smiled faintly , he had counting in his heart , he knows that she couldn't master a relic in within a month , for he had taken years to be able to do that. He just wanted to let her know that in her state currently , there will be no relic that would be crazy enough to choose her.
"This looks very nice." I stepped in the relic shop that Nate lead me in. There were bows and arrows , axes , knives , daggers , scythes , boomerangs , guns , pistols , snipers , bombs... Looks like a place that sells equipment for military cold hard soldiers.
"Go ahead." Nate stood beside the counter , the hunter looking man was the keeper of the shop , he smoke weed and started chatting with Nate while I took my time to adore the relics.
"How will I know if I found it ?" I touched the faint glowing bow and arrow by the corner of the room , it was shining to be precise , but not so glorious and light and justice and all... Just plain old white sparkles. I didn't know if it was the refraction of the light in the shop , but it looked like it was calling out to me. The more I looked at the bow , the more I fell for it.
"What in the-" Judging by Nate's unpredictable reaction , I guess he doesn't really believe that I could get a relic myself he's so self discouraging.
The hunter stood up and smiled , "Young girl what is your name ?"
I replied politely , "Alison."
"Alison , I believe this relic has chosen you admirably." The hunter got out of the counter and goes to the corner of the room , he picked up the bow and arrows and lent it into my hands. I got a closer look at it , it was carved in light oak wood , delicately designed and flawless.
I liked it.
"Told ya..." I smiled with satisfaction as we left the relic shop , I waved good bye at the hunter , seeing Nate giving me the blank eyes , I couldn't help but smile.
"You gotta learn how to use it , don't tell me you've never used a bow before..." Nate asked , his question slowly turned into misery mutters as I nod my head with my tongue stuck out in a joy-playful way.
"You can teach me , I know it." I chirped on the way home.
"You know everything don't you ?" Nate snorted at me , I saw his teeth showing , it's very rare to see him smiling with teeth. His teeth are gorgeous and white , I bet he's a good kid that brushes his teeth every day. I like good kids.
Reaching home , on the door step laid a puddle of black goo that stink of odor and a familiar phobiea ran over my spine. Nate was the first to look at the goo in front of the door , right on the walking slabs. Nate narrowed his eyes at the goo and went past it as if he had never saw any of it showing it's ingraceful tails. I saw how silent he was , it had scared me a few at the start , thinking if those had belonged to some one we were close to.
The late coming evening drew it's mark on the sky , the street lights began to flicker on their bright lights , enlightening the darkest paths.
But just simple lights would not be as enough as it looks on the surface to draw out the darkness from our tauntered world.
