How is it, that in times like these you were able to be my girlfriend and my hero?
Last time I checked, Diana, you swore you'd never mix both.
You didn't want me to meet Wonder Woman. You didn't want me to meet the dangerous side of you. The side that brought danger.
Yet, there will be moments where you'll forget.
Like now, after stealing me away from a falling building, and crashing your lips onto mine.
I know when you're scared or upset, you kiss me and try hard to make sure I'm here and alive and not leaving you. Kisses always reassure you of that, Diana. Wonder Woman isn't so different, I guess.
You press me against the wall of building miles away and grip my hand.
Take my breath like always.
I wish you didn't worry so much, or were so sure that I'd leave you because I couldn't handle that you and Wonder Woman were the same person. I wish you'd stop trying to separate the two thinking it would help our relationship when it rips you apart.
Breaking the kiss, you press your brow to mine. Flicking your tongue over my lips, you spoke, "Thank the Gods, you called me."
It was a last minute decision.
"I thought you weren't supposed to consort with the people you save," I said, as I looked up at you and caught your glance.
"What are you talking about, (Y/N)?" you asked, but I wouldn't answer you, you're an intelligent woman, you'll catch on.
My brows shot up, "I didn't know you were psychic too, Wonder Woman."
It was then you understood what I meant, and your persona fell over you.
You straightened, and your face blushed.
"Sorry."
I leaned against the wall and grinned, "I feel bad for whomever you're dating if you're going around kissing everyone you save."
You gave me a small, shy smile, "I apologise, I had not meant to do that. I had mistaken you for someone else."
"I feel bad for that someone then," I said.
By the way your face contorted, I could tell you were confused by what I meant. Your face fell, and I understood you took it to mean I was offended.
"(Y/N), I promise I've only kissed you—"
"Breaking character again, Diana," I said, squeezing her hand.
You were confused, but I could tell you were trying to play along.
"Okay."
I smiled at you, glancing past your shoulder to see the building in ruins. To think my girlfriend saved my life from that place amazes me every time I see you wear that suit.
"Go, you shouldn't give strangers special treatment," I said.
You stared at me for a moment, "You sure?"
"Yes, Diana, we'll talk when you get home."
You frowned and stepped closer to me, kissing my brow, "I'll be home as soon as possible."
"Don't rush yourself."
"You seem upset," you said, stepping back, our hands slipping away.
I wasn't. Not really. Not a lot anyway.
I just wish you wouldn't try to split yourself. I'm obviously teasing you about it, but I hate that you do it.
"I want you both, all of you. That's all."
You then knew what I was doing, what I was trying to say with all the teasing, "I'm sorry."
"You want to too."
"I do," you said.
"Then do! Just be you, all of you."
You shook your head, "I slipped up this time, someone could have seen me kiss you and think..." your words died away as your eyes widened. You took wide steps away from me, and turned your head slightly to see if we had been seen.
I doubted it.
Your Wonder Woman persona falling into place, "I have to go."
"Yup," was all I said, before letting a few more unnecessary words slip.
"I really need to."
"Okay."
"Seriously."
"Go."
You opened your mouth, to say one more thing, but thought better of it. One minute you were there, the next, you were gone.
I knew you'd ask me what was wrong when you got home, but that was for later.
