A wiped the grime off his helmet. The race took the course through what was left of the mud covered forests of the edge of the state. He was almost at 2nd place. He just had to generate enough speed to--
THUNK!
His motorcycle was crashed into by Barry Nixxon. The local hot rod who swore he'd 'lay ana' talk of A's medioca' fame to rest in the race.' He always talked in an accent that reeked of fakeness, But A didn't say anything, as he didn't want to be rude.
"Whats a'matter, A? Not up for gettin' your hands dirty?!" Barry shouted. He kicked Mud into A's tires, slowing him down.
"Barry, don't be so petty!" A responded, just as loudly.
It'd been 3 weeks since the incident at Madam Leboso's palace, and a strange temple had been said to withhold a mystical tool, which could prove invaluable for destroying The Beast. However, The temple required a key to enter, and the key was promised to the first prize winner of the local race. Upon hearing this, Abbott quickly lied about A's age to enter him in the race, as Abbott couldn't properly operate a motorcycle.
Abbott made A practice rigorously for weeks, teaching him the 'in's and out's' of driving, at the best places he could find.
Barry, on the other hand, was supposedly a racing prodigy, born with a level of skill that just couldn't be taught.
-Maybe Abbott was right.- A thought to himself. -Maybe I am listening to the townsfolk too much.-
They approached an island, filled with evergreen trees. Barry kicked A's cycle, again, slowing him down, and giving him a smaller window to dodge the island. A managed to dodge it, but multiple wires were now hanging out of his vehicle, exposed.
As they regrouped, A could hear Barry shouting at him; "I've been doin' this since you were in diapers! So just give up, third place ain't so bad!"
A took out his new sword. A sturdily made iron sword he found it on the side of the road. A quickly became very fond of it, using it at every opportunity. He attempted to use it to scrape the mud off his bike, but Barry attacked him again.
"Barry, cut it out! Please!" A yelled, desperately, trying not lose his balance.
"No!" Barry shouted back. "Everyone here knows your name! But people forgot about me, Barry! The hero who put this place on the map in the first place! I helped build this town! And what do I get?! Being forgotten, that's what, because the super-cool "A" is in town! Well, I'm done with that!"
But A wasn't listening. "People think I'm super-cool!? Really?!"
Barry was stunned. "D-Did you not hear what I said?! SERIOUSLY!?"
"Oh I did. I just bought more time, so I could finish deflating your tires. Hey, cheer up. Last place isn't that bad."
With that, A picked up speed, and drove off, leaving Barry's bike sputtering and stopping, flinging him into the mud. As Barry got up, he could hear the other bikes zooming past him. He looked at the ground. He could already hear the crowd booing him, telling him to get off the track. He didn't know how he missed that trick of his, but he did know one thing. He'd find A. And he'd make him pay for what he did.
After dealing with Barry, A took 1st place with relative ease.
After the race, A ran back to Abbott, but quickly became confused.
