New chapter. Fun stuff at the beginning, I think I wrote the start at, like... 6 am? Something like that. But yeah, there's going to be some gore in the next couple of chapters, some icky stuff, but then again, if you don't like it, there's a button in the corner of your screen that says 'delete'. Click it.
But yeah-- Enjoy!//
Red stains everywhere.
Blood was splattered all over the walls as well as the corpses of mutilated beings, flesh ripped apart from the neck downwards by razor-sharp white teeth belonging to that of the world’s greatest predator yet, beasts in human form.
Vampyres.
The alleyway was blocked from both ends, a million red glowing lights signifying their arrival, as well as their animalistic growls and snapping of fangs as they closed in slowly, stumbling over the occasional corpse that had been torn apart earlier.
“Xembre, get down!”
I ducked down at Way’s command as a fist swung around and smashed a vampyre’s head into the alley wall, its skull cracking and the insides splattering over it, brain matter and body fluids dripping down slowly. He moved again, this time swinging his elbow back and knocking a vampyre’s jaw so hard that it detached itself from its owner and flew away in a spray of horrid fluids. Way opened his trench coat and pulled out a large stake, driving it into the heart of a vampyre and watching it explode, organs and blood bursting from its chest. Another vampyre could be heard hissing angrily behind us and Way grabbed me, throwing me over his shoulder before ripping the stake out once more and proceeding to stab the other repeatedly. Another came behind it and Way growled in exhaustion, throwing the stake so it pierced its neck, making the creature utter a gargled scream, drowning in its own blood.
Way pulled out a scythe this time from nowhere, using it this time to hack off each vampyre’s head simultaneously. This was working more efficiently, even if we were both covered in blood and grime by the time there was a good pile of beheaded carcasses at Way’s feet. Soon the majority of the vampyres were slaughtered, and the remaining few were coming at us at full zeal. Way swung his scythe once and the handle snapped, each splinter littering our skin and drawing more of our precious life source. A vampyre cackled maliciously and another let out a growl—they were closing in.
“Xembre…” He murmured softly to me as he pulled me down and back down to the ground before drawing a large broadsword from the sleeve of his trench coat, “I’ll never let them hurt you. I promise!” With that final word he let out a scream, the blade whistling through the air as he massacred the remaining vampyres, amputating them of their limbs and leaving them in a bloody, mutilated heap, panting heavily as he dropped the sword and turned, his hazel eyes looking back over at me with relief. He made his way over to me, dropping down onto his knees and pulling me close. I stiffened at first, but then hugged him back tightly, shaking visibly.
… Something was wrong. My eyes snapped open and I looked up at him and instantly froze, my eyes widening with horror.
His skin was insanely cold and white, and his eyes glowed an alive blood red, and sharp white fangs peaked out beneath his dusty lips. He gripped my shoulders tightly and grinned once before descending, tearing my neck out as a final shrill scream left my throat.
Of course, that’s just when I happened to wake up, hands tight around my throat and eyes wide open, my breath ragged and heavy. “Wha- What…” I barely managed to breathe out the strained words; it felt like my body was on fire and a weird sensation lingered around the base of my neck. Something moved in the corner of my eye and I immediately saw red flash—I had fallen backwards in shock with a yelp and managed to tangle myself in the sheets, only to meet Way’s not so red eyes watching me in pure confusion.
