Alright, so chapter Six is up for you guys. Hopefully you enjoy this one... it was kind of the funnest one to write so far.
Anyway, enjoy!//
Xembre Jay Adrias.
Xembre Jay.
Xembre.
That’s the name I’ve had for fifteen years. It’s always been part of me, part of something extraordinarily ordinary.
As a child I didn’t like to be around people. I found them intimidating and judgemental, and would rather stay inside and draw while the others played outside. School was like that as well—I deliberately got myself into trouble so I didn’t have to go out and socialize with the other kids, though still managed to get picked on by them. I was just a quiet kid who didn’t really want to be around other people—that’s all.
My eyes flickered open once then I tried to turn over, a grunt leaving my lips as I shut my eyes once more.
High school was somewhat different than my earlier years. Students seemed to travel in packs there, form alliances with stronger classmates while the more inferior students were targeted and bullied. Most people seemed to be oblivious of this, though some of the victims seemed to see otherwise.
“Gah—!” My weak thirteen-year-old body fell against the bathroom wall and I struggled against it, cringing in the shadows as the group of girls continued to throw insults and kick into my ribcage. One of the older girls, a girl with long dyed brown hair, strode up and picked me up off the ground by my shirt, flicking my nose with one of her claw like nails. “Jeez, look at you now, you little brat. If I catch you trying to catch my boyfriend’s attention once more, I’ll send you back to where you came from!” She spat in my face and tossed me back onto the ground haphazardly. “Piece of jailbait crap.”
I didn’t really know what was going on then. Jailbait crap, that’s what really got me. I remembered having to research it after reading something back in seventh grade… I wasn’t a child seductress or something. I swallowed something back down my throat once, pulling a knee into my chest carefully and cringing a little. And what’s this about… wait, that guy? Oh..
“It’s not really my fault… Whoever the person you’re talking about is, just saying, but maybe you should just talk to him about not looking at other people. And if he’s looking at someone like me… he’s nothing better.” I mumbled the last part, cringing a bit as a line of blood trickled down my nose and across my lips. The brunette girl turned and sneered, this time coming up and driving her heel into the side of my face, causing me to sprawl out onto the ground. “No, better idea! We’re gonna fuck you up so much nobody could even stand looking at you without laughing!”
A sharp boot in my ribcage and I bolted into a sitting position, eyes snapping open wide and looking about. A hacking sound was heard, then some sort of laugh, and I glowered quite the bit, confused with this situation and looking for the source of the weird laughter.
By the end of recess, the purpose for my nickname ‘Corpse-girl’ was made to be. My skin was blotched with ugly bruises, blood and tears were running down my reddened cheeks and I was almost certain one of my ribs had been broken. If that was bad, under my shirt was a whole other story...
I hadn’t moved for the whole break and I was terrified of the thought of someone coming in to attack me more. The bathroom door opened, and I managed to make my way to hide under a sink, this time pulling the school jacket over my body as if to hide myself. Clicking sounds were heard, and a girl’s voice called out.
