"You better watch it, Princess! I will have no hesitation to put you back in those chains." He says and I shake my head.
"Yeah? Really, cause guess who got me out of them?" I say viciously and he nods.
"The one. The only person whipped by me, even if he acts like a complete douche...Daniel Farrington." I say and throw the keys at Connor.
He grunts and places them in the bosses pocket.
"Okay, what should happen now?" He asks himself and I raise my eyebrow.
No wonder why I used to see him move his mouth during breakfast with nothing coming out...
"Yeah, what should you do with me? I have nowhere to go, no place to be..." I trail off and he hisses.
"Enough, Hailey!" He yells and I smirk.
"Why? Because your my dad, or because you said so?" I say and he groans in frustration.
"Don't test me, kid. I made you come into this world, I can take you out of it." He threatens and I laugh.
"Wouldn't I be just like your other murderings, hidden behind others skeletons?" I say, double-meaningly and he clenches his teeth.
"You know...Your mother was really stubborn. Just like you..." He says and I laugh.
Like I would know.
"Guys, leave!" He yells at everyone, and then they all scatter in different directions.
"Hailey, we're going to talk." He says and pulls me by my arm towards his office.
I try yanking it, but his steel grip keeps me from doing so.
We come infront of his office door, slams it open, shoves us in, then locks it behind himself.
"Now, sit down like the good girl you are, and let's have a grown up talk. Okay?" He says and I stay sitting on the ground.
"Okay, have it your own way..." He says and I smile falsely.
He walks over to his desk and sit in his chair.
"Well..." I say, bored of sitting in here already.
"So here's the story. Me, Tyrone McKinnon and your mom met in the middle of high school. We were just friends for, um, like six months until we started developing feelings for each other..." He trails off and I wave my hand in the air, signaling him to continue.
"I asked her out, and of course, returning my feelings, she said yes. But your grandparents, her parents, weren't so happy about that. They were racist and they would degrade me on what I'd wear, what I'd say, even my voice. They said I had a "Black man's voice, the one that's annoying to listen to" and I'd ignore them, because what? Did there opinion affect me? Physically? No. Mentally? Definitely not." He says and I nod.
I myself, love all races and couldn't even try to be racist. I just wasn't made that way.
"Anyways, your mom was tired of having them harrass me and her about our relationship, so we decided to run away together. Which leaves us in Boston. We bought a house, lived together, then we decided to get married after a year. We got married, had you, and I was grateful. This was the life I loved. That was my life. You are my life, and so was your mother, Hailey." He finishes and I squint my eyes.
"So your just gonna tell me all of that and not even go into detail about how my "step dad" and mom became to be, and how you left, and why you took me and why your in this type of job?" I say exasperated and he shrugs his shoulders.
