The studio is finally done!!
And the dancers will have their first practice today if they are on The Mini Company or if they are on the Elite Company.
I am so excited.
"MADDIE" I yell as she walks into the studio's dressing room!
"Hey girl, are you ready for today?" She asks me after we hug and sit down to take off our street clothes.
Soon enough all of the Elite Company is at the studio and now we are waiting for our teacher.
Which is so exciting because everyone else does not know who it is or should I say who they are.
"Ok its time for you and your parents to come in" Coach Justin Peck says.
As we all walk into Studio A, a few people gasps as they realize who our teachers/choreographers will be for the elite company.
"Ok so I bet a few of you know who we are, but for those who don't I am Travis Wall. I am a dance instructor and choreographer specializing in contemporary dance and jazz dance. I was runner up on season 2 of So You Think You Can Dance. I met Carson here on So You Think You Can Dance two years ago when we performed a duet together on the live final." Travis Wall speaks and explains his credentials.
"And I am Justin Peck. I danced at the New York City Ballet Company for many years. But a couple years ago I was appointed as Resident Choreographer of New York City Ballet, which means I will have to split time here and in New York, but I am very excited to work with all of you." Justin says.
"Lastly I am Fik-Shun Stegall, but please call me Fik or Fik-Shun. I am the winner of season 10 of So You Think You Can Dance. I am a hip-hop dancer if you didn't know. Just because you would expect to only do ballet or jazz on a Elite team is completely false. We will be doing numerous Hip-hop numbers as well as theater pieces." He says.
"Parents we will not have a viewing room for this team. We do not want drama coursing through the parents and disturbing our practice. If you do cause drama you will be immediately put on probation for one month and your child will only be allowed to do watch team practice and do the core classes. If you cause drama a second time in our studio you will not be allowed to step inside the studio for a month and if you for some reason cause drama as third time you will be permanently replaced." Justin Peck told everyone.
"Now lets start dancing, see you soon parents" Fik said.
"So the first group piece you will be learning is a group contemporary piece. It will feature all of you. The two solos of the week are going to Nick Daniels and Logan Hernandez. We have one duet this week and that goes to Carson and Nick. Lastly we will have one trio which will go to Mackenzie, Jojo, and Maddie." Coach Justin Peck told us.
"This is going to be an extremely hard team and if you do not work for it you will be cut from the team. The guys especially we will be demanding a lot from you" Fik said.
FAST FORWARD TO END OF DANCE REHEARSAL
"Also before you leave each and everyone of you will be required to put in hours helping out the younger teams. We will send out later the rotation of what teams you will be helping each week. You will be paired up and these are your pairings,
Maddie and Carson,
Nick and Logan,
Eva and Mackenzie,
Diana and Jojo

Leaving the studio I was just getting super excited for the year ahead of us!
My team was going to be super good.
