The Colonial Brotherhood was broken and had been for four years ever since Shay left. I stayed there with my brother Liam for a couple months but then moved away to New York. I couldn't spend even one more day in that place after what Shay did because of the way all the others would look down on me. Liam would tell me not to worry that soon they would find Shay and kill him for his betrayal but that was another reason why I couldn't stay there any longer. Oh, and not to mention the fact that everyone treated my son like he was nothing. Ben was young and knew nothing of the things that his father had done or why the only ones that would talk to him was me and Liam.

I was walking from my job as a store clerk when I felt someone watching me from behind but when I looked there was no one. I didn't let it get to me and continued walking to pick Ben up from school but when I got there his teacher was waiting for me with a scowl on her face and anger Ben behind her. "What did he do this time?" I asked with a sigh then glanced down at Ben but he refused to look at me.

"Mrs. Cormac, I am afraid that we can not look past much more of your son's temper tantrums. This time he nearly sent another student to the hospital with a broken arm." I sighed and looked down at Ben again but he still refused to look at me. "I'm sorry but if something like this happens again you'll have to find another school for him."

"Yes, of course. Thank you." I said and held out my hand for Ben to take but he still stood there pouting. "Benjamin," I said sternly and he put his small hand in mine and we began our walk home. Together we entered our small home and ben set down to do his school work. "Do you want to tell me what happened today?" I asked softly.

"Not really," he answered but as soon as he saw the look on my face he sighed. "One of the older kids called me something and I didn't like it."

"What did this older kid call you?" He looked at me not really wanting to repeat what was said: "Whatever it was you won't be in trouble if you tell me, love."

"He called me a bastard because I don't have a father." Ben looked at the floor in shame and I could see that he believed what this boy had told him.

"No, you listen to me," I said and pulled his chin up to look at me "You are not what they say you are. You have a mother that loves you more then anything in this world and you have a father that loves you so much that if he came home now it would put both of us in danger and he knows that. Your father is not dead and he will find us again that I promise you." Tears began to fall from Bens eyes and I pulled him to me and let him cry.

As I held him I wanted to let my tears flow as well but I couldn't. I had to be strong for him but I wasn't sure just how much longer I could be. I missed Shay more than anything and I wanted him back not only for me but for Ben too. "It's getting late, you need to finish your school work wail I cook some dinner for us, okay?" Ben lifted his head and I wiped his tears away then he nodded and went to work.

After dinner, I read Ben his favorite story that always put him out like a light when I got the same feeling I had before getting Ben from school. I locked the door but still didn't feel safe so I grabbed my old gun from my time with the Assassins and kept it beside me as I finished cleaning up from dinner. As I was cleaning I heard glass shatter and quickly gripped the pistol in my hand ready to shoot. "There she is." a man said as he opened the door for two more men to come in holding weapons.

"How are you and what do you want?" I asked sternly and pointed my gun at the man that had come in through the window.

"(Y/N) Cormac, right?" He asked.

"Who wants to know?"

"We need you to get to him," he said and walked closer to me.

"If you get any closer I will blow your goddamn head off."

"I like them feisty." The man said back and began to walk closer to me but then looked at the stairs. "Boss didn't tell me that there was a kid involved too."

"You stay away from him. Ben, go back upstairs."

"But mom,"

"Go!" I shouted, "Please Ben do what I say and go back upstairs." I could see in his eyes that he didn't want to leave me but finally he gave up and went back."What do you want with us?"

"To draw the traitor back out. Come on, love. We can do this the hard way or the easy way." He said and I made a split second decision to shot.

"I vote the hard way." I pulled the trigger and the man in front of me fell to the ground with half his face blown off and the other two started to come after me but little did they know I had another pistol hidden in the back of my trousers that I pulled out and shot one in the chest then throw a knife at the last that hit him in the throat making them both hit the floor. I sighed and ran a hand throw my hair then tossed the guns to the floor.

"Mommy!" Ben yelled and My eyes went wide. I pulled the knife out of the man's throat and ran up the stairs but when I got up to bens room I heard the unforgettable sound of a hidden blade and saw a body hit the floor. I examined the form in front of me and almost fainted when I dropped the knife to the floor and the man turned to face me.

"I'm sorry, (Y/N). They were looking for me." He said in that Irish accent of his and I knew that my husband had finally come home to me. He began to walk back to the window but I gripped the back of his coat.

"Shay, is it really you?" He turned to look at me again and this time the moonlight allowed me to see the features of his face and I began to cry. "It is you." I throw my arms around him and he held me back. "Please, don't leave us again," I begged and tightened my grip on him.

He pulled away and tilted my chin up to look at him. "Never," Then he kissed me with a passion that I hadn't known in years then Ben came over and pulled on Shays coat making us both look down at him.

"Are you my father?" He asked and Shay knelt down beside him with a smile.

Shay put one of his hands through Bens hair "Black hair, brown eyes, good looks and a knack for causing trouble?" Shay said and Ben smiled "You're my son alright." Shay pulled Ben into a hug and Ben throw his arms around his father "By god at how much you've grown. I'm sorry I wasn't here."

"It's alright, your here now."
